Saban's Draft Choices

LSUTigah, who are the big names coming out of LSU next yeay that will enter the draft?

Only one I can think of would be T Andrew Whitworth if the phins didn't go tackle in the first round he should be there in the 2nd. Although he could rise into the mix of the top 4 tackles next year and go in the top 15 depending how this year goes.

Personal opinion....Whitworth, unless he gets hurt, will be picked in the 1st round. I believe in the top 20.

As for some folks fear that Saban will only draft SEC players even if they are rated below someone from another conference...I don't buy it. Saban WILL take more chances on players in next years draft. He needed a solid base in his 1st season and that's exactly what he got. As far as next year and beyond...I think Saban goes BPA in rounds 1 and 2 (regardless of conference). I the rest of the draft I think it's possible that for the next 3 years (players he personally recruited or coached with/against) he'll take a coplemore chances because he knows the guy is smart or a competitor or whatever. I don't believe he'll pull the "Butch" or "Spurrier" and take a player 1 or 2 rounds higher just because he's knows the guy (besides as for spurrier, he was trying to fit certain types of o-talent into his offense, which didn't work in the NFL). He didn't this year and I don't believe he will in the following years. His "take a chance" picks will be in the 3-7 rounds. IMO

If he does it'll be a banner year for tackles.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson, T, Virginia
Jonathan Scott, T, Texas
Eric Winston, T, Miami
Marcus McNeil, T, Auburn
Davin Joseph, G-T, Oklahoma (being moved to LT this year and could rise large)

I'd be happy getting our LT of the future next year. 1st round LT's got a good history of not busting in the 1st round and I doubt the phins hit the playoffs so a 6-10 record would guarentee us 1 of the first 4 guys. It'd be great to have McNeil as our anchor at LT reunited with Ronnie.

This is a good post. Next year is the year of the LT and we'll need one even if Alabi shows good promise because we'll need a RT as well with McDougal being a FA after this year.

Our chances of finishing above 6-10 are remote and that will guarantee a guy like McNeil who would fit this offense like a glove. A big mauler in teh run game and nimble enough to pass block. This team's Bryant McKinnie.

Linehan has shown he loves big T's and G's while going with active and smart centers.

There will be more than just Andrew Whitworth coming out of LSU next year. Claude Wroten is a defensive tackle to keep an eye on. Skyler Green is a wide receiver/return specialist that will draw some late first round consideration next season.

One guy that not many know about right now but will find out about him this season is Mario Stevenson. He's got the type of size that Nick Saban likes in a corner. I saw him when he was at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
