Saban's end game? "My Fault"

Saban's end of game coaching is chaotic, frantic, and undisciplined. Using the last time out wisely would've helped achieve the most important goal at the time "A 1st DOWN". I would have liked to see a run, a quick timeout called, and next a short quick sideline pass. If both attempts are unsuccessful than you've done all you could, and used all your available resources to win. I quess if you've been playing for a tie the whole game it's hard to change direction in the last seconds.
Saban needs to very seriously practice endgame strategies untill he gets over his panic. The team is bad enough without having to carry the liability of a mentally frozen, and unprepared head coach.

That said, Dolphin recievers dropping catchable passes, and complacency among Dolphin pass defenders are what doomed the fins this game.

So you take all that time to criticize Saban, then you casually mention that it wasn't his fault we lost the game.

Okay.

The " my Fault" was referring to the words Saban himself mouthed at the end of the game.

That third and 2 play was the right time to run Ronnie in order to pick up a first down and get in better FG range. The team still had a timeout and you want to attempt the FG with 3 - 4 seconds remaining. I was disappointed in the play calling and the lack of knowledge of the situation. I wasn't confident in Mare from that range. 51 yards is no gimme. Another 5 - 10 yards would have made the difference.
Lump that decision in with the half back pass in the Texans games for the 2 point conversion and there's 2 possible wins.

100% Agree

I was thinking the same thing. The rushed play on 3rd and 2 was totally ridiculous. You run it up the middle- get the 1st and then spike the ball and keep the timeout. Then you have another play or maybe 2 to gain some yards on ANY part of the field and then you kick the field goal.

Throwing that ball over to the sidelines with a timeout left is just careless.

It was a completely wasted down and blew us the game.

That is why Saban said "my fault". He knew he screwed it up.

Lets face it guys, Saban is human too, he makes mistakes, unlike most posters on this board who would NEVER make a mistake. I don't think he coached a very good game yesterday, and he was wrong to start Daunte in games 1-4, but he's learning. I still feel we'll be very competitive in a year or two, now, not so much!

The observations I made were done in the moment not in retrospect.

I didn't mean just you. I'm just sick of hearing how bad Saban is... When last year all you heard was how great a job Saban was doing now that things are bad its funny how all sudden he gone for a good coach to lets get someone else. I hate losing but I feel that its only been two years and with the injuries and things that have happen its going to take alittle more time then we thought, but I still believe Saban can and will turn thing around.

it's his fault this team sucks, it's his fault he started Cpep when he wasn't ready, its his fault we dont run Ronnie 30 times so as to keep the Jets of the field.
Ronnie is killing them and we put S Morris in on third downs.
I'm bored I'm the chaiman of the bored.

Okay.

What do you mean its not his fault? Hes the HC. He is responsible for the wins and losses. Esp the way he has created the environment of self-control over this organization. If WRs drop passes, he should have gotten them to either catch better or get someone who could catch. Bottom line. This was NS fault. 100% completely his fault.

Yeah, me too. I'll be one of your Bored of Directors. And we arguing with all of the Cleopatras-Queens of Denial.

I don't care how anyone feels about Saban overall, but this thread is 100% correct. It was poor game management, period.

If you honestly assess the game, I believe the Dolphins actually had more opportunities and largely outplayed the Jets, with the exception of the third quarter. The team is underachieving, as it has for so many years now. In the past, we blamed that underacheiving attitude on the head coach, but now Saban is given a free pass. Why? The team is largely his at this point, with very little holdover from the previous regime. When Saban's players have the edge and still find ways to lose, he deserves a good portion of the blame.

Yesterday's game was the last free pass I am giving Saban. He has gone from being a great hope of mine, to now having to earn respect by proving he knows what he is doing. So far this season, he has shown nothing.

+1

Also from the Miami Herald -
Saban agreed the two-minute drill brought urgency the offense lacked earlier in the game, so he talked about perhaps using it more in the future. But the coach said the same thing when it worked against Houston two weeks ago and didn't use it much again until Sunday.

So I don't expect much of a change on that front once again.
