Dolphins | Going Mum on the Practice Squad
Thu, 8 Sep 2005 06:59:33 -0700

The Palm Beach Post reports Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban said the team will no longer announce practice squad transactions.

What are your thoughts on this?

He said it in his PC yesterday I think. It's not a big deal. He just said that it isn't important to tell the media everytime they change something on the practice squad, because it will be changing alot. something like that.

IN the press conference he said that there was going to be soo much movement of that roster that it really wasn't worth talking that much about and he wanted to focus on the 53 man roster when dealing with questions.

So I am compeletely fine with it. I really dont care who is on the practice squad that much.

Don't league rules require him to announce the moves?

Wow thanx nick:shakeno:

I don't think practice squad matters too much in the big scheme of things

But....but....isn't Fred Gibson on that list? We all care what happens to him right?

But seriously, I guess in truth the lineup probably will have a lot of change as we cut guys from it and bring others in, plus factoring in other teams who might swipe a player or two as injuries set in with their clubs and they need to restock their 53 man roster. But back to Gibson for a sec, any chance he becomes part of the 53 for us? I wonder how concerned Nick is that we'll lose him or someone else on the squad to another team? I'm just wondering how important a role Fred will play with us and how much Nick values him?

Well, I think I would still prefer the names to be out there somewhere, not that anyone has to make a big thing of it, but it would be nice to know what players the coaches think highly enough of to bring in even for just a short period to "simulate" someone they are going to play that week.
