Sack Monster
<SARCASM> Saban's just not a pro coach.
This thread was originally intended to corral all the useless negativity present on these boards yesterday. It is INTENTIONALLY over-the-top with its pessimism. Please read my future posts before flaming me.
He started by picking Gus Frerotte. Of course, Frerotte was given the job. Only a fool would now still believe there was a legitimate competition, because the preseason stats showed that despite Frerotte's supposed knowledge of the offense, he didn't do any better than Feeley.
Now, here we are after five games, and Frerotte is sporting a 54.5% completion percentage and a QB rating of 70. Neither is far off from his career figures of 54.6% and 75.8. So, it looks like we've gotten exactly what was expected. Great, a one-time Pro Bowler who never really made it in the first place. Fans here like to blame the receivers for not catching balls horribly overthrown. Me, I'll place the blame where it belongs.
Saban added one guy to a horribly suspect offensive line. That guy has been pretty bad, and probably shouldn't be playing now. He benched an otherwise-improving rookie - Vernon Carey - and started McDougle. Why? I don't know. Saban doesn't know what he's doing with the line. They can't run block anymore. Last week, they sure opened up some holes. Why not change it all up?
Ricky comes back for the first time in 20 games. Ronnie Brown looked to have just hit his stride, running for 200+ yards in his last two games. Hey, I know, let's bring Ricky right back in and start him! Ronnie can handle the breakup. Of course, it worked out well, with Williams rushing for a solid 8 yards. At least Brown managed double digits.
The guy's really just not a good coach. Because Miami dominated Denver, we thought he might be good. Then the team plays terribly for three games, and here we are.
