Lets think about this for a min.,A guy walks out on his team right before training camp, smokes a couple of blunts for medical reasons so he says, gets the head coach fired basically and says he's lost his passion?Do you actually think saban wants him on this team because of what he can do,or what he's worth in trade value? If he gets back up around 225lbs. runs well when he does get to play saban will be looking to deal him.You know there will be a team looking at him asking what we will take for him.they'll probably try to low ball us because of his past, but if saban does like he did with surtain he'll get what he wants.Saban is probably telling ricky what he wants to hear(much like i do my wife)to get him back and make him feel wanted. Then brfore you knowit he's gone!

im not sure what Saban wants out of Ricky I know he feels he has "value" and he want to use that in some way probably on the field at first then see where it goes.

it seems like some of the 1st things out of saban's mouth after getting hired were that he would be willing to accept ricky back if williams was ready to commit and play ball. i think saban talked to bellicheck and watched the dolphins play the patriots and trully felt sorry for the dolphins and ricky for running into a wall for a season. from talking to bill, he always knows how good ricky really is and if there was a proper blocking scheme and offense to run behind then it could be fearsome.

So given the behavior, how much trade value do you think Ricky would have when Seattle and Indy can't get rid of more psychologically stable, and arguably as talented, backs in Alexander and James?

I think Saban's plan is actually transparent and rather elementary, albeit the best one: Ricky wants to play, I'm in a freebie year, Ricky is arguably the most talented and dominant player on this team, Wannstedt screwed him, let's see what he's got.

This is a no lose proposition for Saban. If Ricky returns to form and Brown measures up, now Saban has a solid backfield this season and trade options next. If Ricky falters, then he has Brown and Gordon and he can dump Ricky next season.

Not that brilliant of a strategy. Of course, for any member of the Wannstedt regime, recognizing and executing this would have been far too mental of an exercise.

Its very simple, whether we keep him and feature a two-headed ground attack a la Morris, Czonka or Craig, Rathman or we deal him to another team, Ricky has more value to us playing than he does doing yoga in Grass Valley. Saban will likely see how Ricky and Ronnie each play and see how the market for RBs is next year and do whatever will be most beneficial to the team. There are too many unknowns at this point to insinuate some mastermind endgame scenario yet.

Well, I dissagree with your basic statement that Saban is only letting Wacky back to trade him, but common sense would dictate that he give the guy the opportunity to return. Saban is not and did not intend to rely on Wacky's return thus the drafting of Brown, KJ and resigning of Minor...I've said this before but Saban's responsibility to the Fins organization is to recoup as much as we can for Wacky...that would mean either in his skills as a RB (if he can do the things it takes to comeback) or via a trade. A trade now (or in August) is just not going to get any value in return. So, Wacky will have to re-prove himself as a RB and as a person who can operate within the confines of the NFL rules and regulations. When and if all that happens, he may regain some trade value for us...If at that time, Brown has proven he's the answer or Gordon or KJ step it up, then fine...if not, we'll be keeping Wacky. This line of thinking is not what I would call "mastermind" but common sense...and no, I am not bashing Saban at all...just what he is doing is good business sense...

Why does every say this same thing it is so freakin STUPID it has nothing to do with nothing. The reason Seattle and Indy arent getting what they want is WAY WAY WAY MORE about how much money it would cost a team than the damn draft pick. If these guys where going to come relatively cheap like ricky would than they would be gone for a 1st or 2nd pick in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!

who would want that smokehead, nobody knows if he likes to smoke pot again next year

We are going to end up paying Brown far more than we would have paid James or Alexander - so your heated logic folds right about there. The Bears and Bucs will also end up paying more for Benson and Williams as well - so it is NOT solely about the money.

BTW: "nothing to do with nothing" actually means it has something to do with something. Thanks for proving my point.

Ricky Williams will no longer be a Dolphin within the next 3 years, I guarentee it.

You know what the difference between Nick Saban and Wyatt Sexton is???

If police would have found Nick in the street claiming he was God, they would have believed him.

BELIEVE IN NICK!!

Anybody want to summerize this for me? I couldn't read that paragraph after reading that title.

Saban's a mastermind with the masterplan of only bringing Ricky back so he can trade him for whatever pick he wants - and won't take anything less.

Your point makes no sense! Is that better!
If you knew anything sure a rookie can get that money these guys are not rookies. If Alex. or Edge was coming along with a reasonable contracts there is NO TEAM THAT WOULDNT TRADE THEM FOR A SECOND ROUND TEAM. PERIOD! If you think that the reason that they are not getting offers is not because of there contract demands you are a real idiot and there is no reason for further discussion. If Ricky has a good season he could be had easily for a second if his contract would be reasonable.
