I am a Saban fan however my frustration is he is slow to give young guys a chance. Why? Is his system that hard? If so then should it be simplified?
Let's think about his moves so far and what has worked.
Coaching staff hirings - you have to question them - our ST's at least on the return side are terrible - certainly not any better than they were. He kept the same coach - mistake IMO. OL - we all praise Houck but is this line any better - not much if so. I don't see us doing any better against pretty poor teams. We have to quick pass all the time because we can't run yet our line avgs what 330+ lbs. Offense - better yes - by much no - upside hard to tell - certainly can't see that they scare anybody. Is mularkey the answer - doesn't look like it. Why was he forced to take over somebody else's offense? It obviously hasn't worked out. D - Smith - bad hire but he was what the 3rd or 4th choice. Capers - haven't seen any improvement - respected coach but not much change from last year. Dominant downs 1 and 2 - stink on 3rd down and let up the big plays - so what has changed? Coaching doesn't seem to have made a difference - at least in the results.

Players - what FA has made an impact?
Draft - RB - yes good move although we needed more picks - not to spend the #2 overall on a back - I like him alot just would have rather had 2 or 3 picks instead. Roth, Crowder, and Daniels - could be good players - any studs? Maybe Crowder - too early to tell. At least they were able to play early. This year no young guys have been playing - why? Is our talent level that good - obviously not. This years draft may not pan out so well.

FA - what has worked? Traylor - good - KCarter - good - what else - who else - can't think of any big time players we have gotten. DC and JH - who knows - could be busts still - certainly hasn't been rosy so far.

This isn't to bash Saban - he has a great work ethic and approach. Seems to be the right guy and I have been singing his praise BUT if you look at the team and teh results you have to wonder - are we any better 1 1/2 years later and is there an upside here? We have a very old team - we aren't starting 3 rooks on the OLine like the Packs. Our D front 7 is very old! Where is the youth infusion?

don't you mean DB not RB

I am thinking the same thing. It would be one thing to be 1-6 with a bunch of young players. But thats not the case. The future looks bleak right now. There seems to be hope for all the other lousy teams, but not the Dolphins.

I really want to know why is fred evans not getting any PT,THE KID SHOWED SOME MOXIE IN PRESEASON,HAS A VETERAN LINE TO LEARN FROM AND CAN'T GET IN THE ROTATION,,,,WHYWHYWHY

>> Can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****!

Is mularkey the answer - doesn't look like it.

>>Not just no... hell no!

>>One word, "overrated"! Blitzes far too much. We got more done last year from the front four rushing alone.

Players - what FA has made an impact?

>>None that I can think of....

Draft - RB - yes good move although we needed more picks - not to spend the #2 overall on a back -

>>I still think that Cadillac was the better choice...

We had no choice but to draft a running back in 2005. Ricky was still gone, and the alternative was Sammy Morris.

That said, I think Ronnie is one of the Dolphins' shining stars, and I hope he stays with us for the duration of his career.

Almost all of the youth on the team is at DL. Roth, Vickerson, and Evans. They are buried on the depth chart, behind all the FA DL that he has signed.

Saban is new to being a HC in the NFL, he's going to make some mistakes. Hopefully he will learn from them and become a good coach!

Well I disagree here - Is our talent level great - probably not - is it crap - NO. Jeno will grade as an above avg guard. Shelton is not a bum at LT. The Browns did want him back - just not at a huge price. Look at their line now. Shelton may be a decent guard - he is huge. Carey looks like a keeper at RT. Center is a big weakness for us. Regardless - he has had 1 1/2 years to fix it or get it decent. He is the highest paid OL coach in the game for a reason isn't he. He shouldn't need the best talent to get the job done. SD's line did not have anyone super special. It's either our offensive system or we just have no playmakers that a D will fear. Our line averages over 330 lbs - we should not be getting pushed back! No Way! How bad would we be if Alabi and Berger played? If it would make a big difference then those guys are pretty bad and our future looks even worse than the present.

He attempted to trade down and had no takers, we all would have loved to grab more picks that year. And we had to take Ronnie, we needed a RB. I still make the same pick right now. And you simply can not close the book on ANY of our draft picks, this year's or last's. WAYYYYY TOOO early to tell.

I'm not sure if he had no takers at all or he had no takers at his price. regardless RB is probably my favorite on the team so I do like the pick it's just we needed more young bodies and that was a very high pick. Roth is the wild card - I think he planned on taking Webster and the giants took him right before. I see Roth playing more but still not enough - why do we have guys like Bowens playing? If we are 4-2 great but at 1-5 now 1-6 c'mon! Give guys like Roth alot of PT - now is the time for these guys to learn and make mistakes - not next year. We need youth at DE.

The game is simple - you win and lose up front. We have 2 young DT's - great - can they play? Who knows?? why not give them time - what is playing Zgonina going to do for us? We have Alabi and Toledo on the OL side - can they play? Who knows? (I know Toledo is on IR). The problem is we aren't giving these guys experience.
