Has anyone else noticed that Frerotte was sacked 5 times in 77 attempts this preseason, while the other 3 QBs were sacked a total of 2 times in 144 attempts? Do you think that is because: (a) Frerotte doesn't get rid of the ball quickly enough; (b) Frerotte would rather take a sack than throw the ball away; (c) Frerotte doesn't do a good job of sensing the rush; (d) the 1st team OL has been worse at pass protection than the 2nd and 3rd teams; (e) the 2nd and 3rd team defenses we have faced have been particularly bad at pass rushing; or (f) other (please explain)?

It sure as hell is not D. The third string OL did impress last night though protecting Rosie...

i put c but with a qualifier. Frerotte isnt used to how poorly we pass block and hasnt yet adjusted to his new reality. it definitely seems as if the second and third string oline gives better protection but i cant make a good evaluation whether its because of their talent or the defense's lack thereof

The first o-line's most glaring, ongoing weakness is that they make numerous mental errors and are seldom on the same page. It's sometimes ok even if they all read it wrong, just so they all read it the same it still has a chance to work. Maybe someday they will ALL read it right AND block it right. The second line definitely makes fewer mental mistakes, especially before Stokar joined them.

combination of several factors.... the main glaring one being better decision making.

sometimes it's better to take the sack than to throw an INT for 6
