I hate posting this but we know it's kinda true. As much as we love the Dolphins, we know that our fanbase sucks. I post this hoping that the teams performance will cause new fans this year and electrify the existing fan base. Yes, I know that the Dolphins have some of the best fans in the NFL (yours truly included). I've cheered at Dolphins games until I thought my head would explode and I couldn't talk or hear for a few days. I've had security try to kick me out for yelling at fans to get off their butts and to stand up and cheer for the Phins. When I go to the games its onesy twosy as I don't live in the area. So when I go, its always in a different section. I used to run a hotel in South Beach so I think I may have figured out some of the reasons that the Dolphins have fanbase issues:

We've been an inconsistent team in regards to wins/losses. While we're still #2 all time since merger wins, since Marino and Shula we have had umpteen QB's and coaches. There hasn't been anything invigorating and consistent enough to cause people to become Dolphin fans. Without this, more and more Dolphins keep moving out of the area replaced by fans of other teams or no teams at all.

Miami is too worldly of a city. Think about it. If you live in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Kansas City, St Louis, etc, what else is there to do? Odds are you came from a football family and watching football is what you do on Sunday period. I mean if you're in Michigan you watch the Redwings, Tigers and Lions. Thats what you do. In Miami, I used to watch it. I used to try to talk my guests into going to the games. Miami has so many people from so many places, they don't even know what American Football is. If you disagree with this, pick a day and go to Dolphin Mall. Find me some Dolphins fans....

Miami is a retirement area. When all the people move down, they are fans of other teams and they have been for years and years! I live in Naples. When I go to a sports bar, It's all Packers, Lions, Patriots, Jets, Bills, Bears, and now some Seahawks. If there are 150 people in a sports bar during the Dolphins game, there are MAYBE 10 Dolphins Jerseys.

It's stupid hot for the first month of the season! Look I love Miami. But I only go to a game in September if I have LIV seats. It's just too hot. 99% humidity. I served my time and went to PLENTY of games in September. I'm tired of having sweat pour off of me and spending the rest of the day felling horrible. Ownership needs air conditioned seats throughout the stadium, a mister system, something! I know I sound like a wuss but if they made this change, we'd have more fans in the seats.

It's beautiful for the rest of the season! As such, if the Phins aren't looking overly exciting/entrancing, the fringe Phans go and do other things. It's Miami! They take out the boat, they go to the beach. Again, I DON'T condone these things but it's what happens.

The stadium is in a stupid location!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone dig up Joe Robbie and ask him what was he thinking? The Dolphins stadium should be where the Marlins stadium is. BINGO. Instant additional 5,000 Dolphins fans per game. I went to Indy a few years ago and watched the Phins beat the Colts. Stadium is awesome. Right in the middle of the city. We could walk there or take a short cab ride across city. What an ideal thought!!!! Have the stadium in the city that the team is named after! Wow! The fans from the other teams are on a mission. They came to town to go to that game.

Dolphins fans put up their tickets for sale and let fans of other teams buy them! YES, when you just stick them on Stubhub, they get bought up often by fans of other teams. If you are a Phins fan, own season tickets and can't make a game, make sure you sell them to fans of the Dolphins. Don't know how to do that, then figure it out. Sell them on here or let them go empty. Thats better than Jets fans sitting in them!!!!!

I return to the on field product. That's the key. If we can get in the playoffs and be relevant, we'll start getting new fans. The stadium improvements should help too by getting us closer to the field so there will be crowd noise. Though we almost need some form of pregame tutorial. When the defense is on the field, scream. Don't just scream on third down. All the time! Next, stand up! Your LaZBoy is at home. Here, you're a fan. You have a responsibility to stand up and cheer for your team. No need to be vulgar but you're PART OF THE HOME TEAM!!!! Maybe we need a pre game pep rally. I'm just spitballing here. I have heard more cheering happen over the last few years as Tannehill has improved but it's still borderline pathetic when you consider the entire stadium.

The of us on here are great fans. We are the tip of the spear. After reading this, I'll make it to more games this year. We need to teach our fellow fans how to be better. We need to get non football fans to become Dolphins fans (I've done this with at least 40 people). We need to look at this article as a challenge. What can you do to help the Dolphins have better fans. Imagine if everyone that reads this gets just 10 people who don't watch football to be Dolphin fans. Sure. the guys in the jerseys on the field need to do there part too but lets see what we can do!

We are Dolphans! The best team in the NFL. We are the lifeblood.

I like to think of us as Genghis Khan's Mongolian empire. We're very spread out but not particularly strong in one central point.

on a serious note our fan base sucks in Miami but when you mention that on this forum everyone gets butt hurt and starts firing off excuse after excuse.

Unsurprising. I can't really blame the fans for not being all that enthusiastic about this team anymore.

Screw PFT and their list, you guys on here are some of the most passionate fans I've encountered. Every team has it's bad apples, but I know that die hard Fins Fans go harder than any other fan base...win or lose.

I hear ya brother. I'm so damned passionate about the pins. I know I have to make up for at least 10 crappy fans.

Dig the water effect in your sig too. Thats stupid cool.

The team needs to win consistently. That's really the most important thing. People love a winner. People are front runners. How many Seahawks jerseys did you used to see when they were terrible? How many do you see now? It's all about winning. I will be doing my part in trying to create a home field advantage at the home opener against Buffalo, as I am flying down for my first game in 4 years. Can't wait.

I feel like the stadium location plays a huge part in it. I also think that because of the Heats recent success, the NBA's soaring popularity with young fans and the fact that Lebron was here really hurt the fins but that just my opinion not based on any facts. I just think young kids want to support a winner and the fins haven't been one in most of the younger fans lifetime.

Yeah the location of the stadium doesn't help, that's for sure. It would be better to have a stadium in the city, but I think Robbie chose that spot because the land was cheaper, and he wanted a more central location for the fans coming down from Broward and Palm Beach.

 part of me wants to see exactly what analytics put the likes of the jags and Rams ahead, but then I realize I don't give a ****. I will say that it's taken much longer for the first "whine about the fans" thread this year, which must mean that optimism is increasing for what has been a ****ing terrible product the past decade +.

Hey I was at that colt game too! Their stadium is in the prime spot. Literally parked a block away.

There aren't any metrics. When the media has an opportunity to **** on the Dolphins, they take it.The Fins have become one of the handful of franchises that smug ****suckers like Florio and the ESPN douchebags bag on for anything they can find, to continue the narrative they love to perpetuate that the Dolphins are a joke. I'm hoping, for once, we'll make them all eat **** come Fall.

Those lists are complete nonsense. I don’t buy you are last and I don’t buy we are top 5.

Patriot fans too. I mean, eat a dick(not you, the author). You couldn't find a Patriot fan anywhere in NE if you implemented a ****ing SWAT team 20 years ago. That team was 5 minutes away from packing up and moving to St. Louis before d-bag Kraft showed up. Funny what winning will do.

Yeah. That's how I want the Phins stadium to be. literally within 6 seats of me in every direction there was ONE Dolphin Jersey. There we maybe 60 Phins jerseys in the whole stadium. We had Anthony Bethea's tickets to the game. I was cheering so hard for the Phins, I was a little concerned from a safety standpoint. Imagine a Phins stadium with 97% Dolphans. It can happen after our upcoming playoff games! When we are the next great dynasty, it'll be awesome. On the verge.

I think them getting Suh and taking Parker and getting Stills this year is going to help with the fans too. Tannehill's on the upswing, theres a lot to start getting excited about.

Meh .... Whatever . I love my Phins . Who cares , bunchs goddamn haters
