Most important duo-trio in the game for Miami, i'd say... Bell, Hill, Allen,

They'll need to help over the top, and on jump balls, and with confusing Gerrard, and likely needing to lay a good stick on him... early if possible... especially if Zach has a hard time running with Gerrard...

neither team should run for much, unless Jax. creases a run or two...

i say this is a huge game for the safeties to step up... this secondary as a whole needs to start taking some risks... the Jags' recieving corps doesnt' scare, vertically, so let's get exotic this week and lay it to Gerrard...

this would be the best week yet for Jason Allen to emerge... yes?

thank god this game is at home... no RB will hurt, as i don't believe Morris and his style can run on this defense...

i get your point, but I think you need to have less coffee my friend:sidelol:

I wouldn't say their WRs are not a deep threat. They have pretty good speed and great height as a WR core. I think the game comes down to our OL. If we can't open up some running lanes vs their great DTs then the game is over. We can't win this game with another 2 yard performance from our starting RB.

they are tall fast receivers with dropping problems
doesn't mean they won't get a few more catches/drops in this game

Go back to the exhibition game where Garrard and the Jags torched us. I know they will. The key to this game is keeping Garrard in the pocket. Garrard is the Anti-Joey, he beats you with his legs (running ) and escape-ability (avoiding the rush, buying time for his receivers to make big plays)
If we can stop him, we should pull one out.

And watch the tape of the 2 Texans games vs the Jaguars. Whatever it is they were doing works really well.

True. Their DL is a force and if they dominate we are in trouble. If they stop our running game cold and then unleash a vicious pass rush on Harrington we have no shot at that point. Watch for Stroud as he is probably the best athlete on their D.

As far as their receivers assuming they catch the ball they can be a threat in the short passing game. The height factor is still there and that will certainly be a test for our corners. Safety help in pass coverage is always important no matter who is the opponent. As of late, and IMHO no coincidence since Bell has been starting, the safteys are actually excelling at pass coverage unlike earlier in the year.

Garrard's escapability is an issue and it is important as duly noted previously that the safetys help out by effectively clogging up running lanes in run support. Garrard is to me an OK passer but he can't beat a strong D like ours soley by his arm.

IMHO I don't think in this game Garrard is going to do any type of torching our D. Besides Garrard running no one on the Fins D is going to look past Fred Taylor. As mentioned on an earlier thread the guy is still a threat in the running game and if he gets going its just going to make things tougher.

It's going to come down to how much pressure we can apply up front. We win in the trenches we'll win the game.
