One day after a sickening offensive performance there are fan GM's everywhere. Hell, I am one of them. And whose head are we always calling for? The glory positions. Quarterback, wide reciever, and sometimes running back. Why is that? Because fans focus on the result, not the process. Not Saint Nick. If I had to put money down on what kept Nick Saban up lastnight, I have a feeling it would be the same thing that kept me up. The inability of the Miami Dolphins to open up holes and protect the quarterback.

Nick preaches process. Offensive line is the primary process. He knows this.

I go to school in Boston. I watch Tom Brady week in and week out. He is an excellent quarterback. But would he be so behind our line? Brady is rarely under pressure and routinely gets to view the field for three or more seconds, set his feet, and throw. Not a bad work environment huh? I can remember a few games where teams got pressure on him over the last few years. One was against Pittsburgh last regular season and the other was a Monday Night game you all might remember last year. He was not the same quarterback.

Don't get me wrong, this is not a "support Gus Frerotte" thread. He is what he is. He is a journeyman quarterback with accuracy issues.

The point is this. Miami was a leaking damn with way too many holes in it. Nick took the plugs he had at his disposal and used them the best way he could. Nick is not going to reach like the previous regime. Nick is not going to overpay like the previous regime.

How good could this offense be if the runners where given a crease instead of a wall? How good would this offense be if Gus got to stand back there like Tom does? Those are the questions that continue to irritate me almost 24 hours later.

I agree....thats why I believe the Dolphins will select a Left Tackle....in the first round in the 2006 draft.

If that player represents value at that slot. No more reaching just to reach!

Yeah, primary areas to address next offseason are: QB, OL, CB/FS/SS

We need multiples at each one of those positions, and I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of turnover. Getting the salaries of high priced busts like R. Howard & AJ Feeley off the books (after assuming the cap hit for cutting them) will help in terms of flexibility.

Looking forward to next offseason almost as much as I was the last one. We'll have FAR more cap this time around and a full complement of draft picks.

This roster will start to look much better between years 2-3. That's where the most drastic improvement will occur in terms of sheer talent. As for right now... we'll just have to grin and bear it.

The problem that I see is that linemen take a while to develop into starting roles as we have painfully seen the past years or so. Is this team actually in backward mode? I thought we should have been playing better by the middle of the season actually...

Anyway let's hope Saban (& Houck) can fix the OL!!! (and secondary, and the QB, and the penalties, and the DL looked like it needs some youth)

Logan Mankins developed pretty quickly. If you draft the right players, thoe types of worries take care of themselves.

an o-line is the key to building a great team, but this team is not going deep into the playoffs or winning the super bowl with gus.

definitely a good point but our offense has gone from one extreme to the other. We ONLY ran the ball 18 times yesterday between two RB's. Thats ridiculous. We abandoned the run way too early. After tampa went up 10-3 what do we do?? 3 straight passing plays. Its like the "panic button" was hit. A horrible O-line definitely leads to huge swings for opponents but we definitely should have stuck with the run a little more. Having Gus pass over 40 times a game is most likely going to bring the same result we got against Tampa, Buffalo, and NY. And I definitely dont want to be seeing any more defeats like those.
