For the second time in as many days, the Saints completed a trade with an AFC East team as they picked up TE Tim Euhus from Buffalo in exchange for LB Courtney Watson.The trade is pending league approval and is not yet final, according to a statement by the club on Tuesday afternoon. Monday, the Saints acquired WR Bethel Johnson from New England for DT Johnathan Sullivan.
Euhus (6-5, 249 pounds) will begin his third season in the league after he was drafted by the Bills in the fourth round (109th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft.
In his rookie season of 2004, he caught 11 passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns as he played in 12 games with five starts as he gave the Bills the flexibility to use two-TE sets. He started his first career game at fullback vs. Miami on Oct. 17 and assisted RB Willis McGahee to a 111-yard rushing game.
Euhus played in 11 games with three starts in 2005 and has 23 career games played with eight starts in his career to date with 14 total receptions for 115 yards.
He started 37 consecutive games and played in 49 total games at Oregon State. He posted career totals of 98 receptions for 1,346 yards (13.7 yards per reception) and nine TDs with the Beavers. He also played two seasons with OSU's basketball team and saw brief action.
