Read the link below where Saints fans think that Sean Smith is more NFL ready than Malcolm Jenkins.

I don't think Jenkins is ready. Sean Smith is ready

From what I could tell, he looked mostly lost this preseason. I don't know if that comes from the late arrival to camp or just being a rookie. He did look slow!

I kinda wish we got Smith....I preffered him during the draft as well.

That's funny because Malcolm Jenkins was the only CB I had rated higher than Sean Smith...but obviously I'm re-thinking that. Sean Smith is the best CB in the draft class.

Rookie envy isn't surprising, but you can't make judgments like this on a rook so early, especially in preseason.

Smith has made some awesome plays and looks promising, but let's just wait until the reg season shall we? There's a reason why Jenkins was the consensus no. 1 DB in the draft and I don't think Saints fans will be disappointed in the long run. Heck, we probably would have taken him if he fell to us!

CK.. you should clean out your mailbox occasionally. Here's a clarified and color enhanced version if you're interested:

Sean Smith, our best value pick since ZT?

Thanks man. I'll use that pic instead.

I don't know about best value pick since ZT...but he was the only pick in this draft class that I graded with an "A". I liked the Chris Clemons and Andrew Gardner picks for value later on but didn't give them an "A". Sean Smith to me was the most inspired pick of this draft...

For good reason.

As for my PM box the problem is that they weirdly adjusted my size limit and so I have like hundreds more PMs than I'm allowed to have. I know I wanted to save some of them so it's tough for me to sort through it all and delete the ones that need deleting. I'll probably just say screw it and delete the whole thang.

While most of the posts on that board are pro-Smith, the other posters have a very valid point. Sean Smith did well against their second team O. I really don't think Smith would have made Drew Brees look bad. Although I don't agree that "Brees will victimize Smith this year" like one poster said on saintsreport, I don't believe we will see any Smith INTs against Drew Brees. I really hope I am wrong.

Drew Brees wouldn't have thrown the ball period, in all likelihood. There was no way to throw that ball. And that was against Lance Moore, a 1000 yard receiver.

The net effect is still fantastic. He had great coverage on a starter quality receiver, and now QBs really have to take note that even if you isolate him in single coverage, don't bother throwing at Sean "Kratos" Smith on the sidelines. Just don't do it.

I agree 100%. If Smith plays the way he did yesterday, Brees will avoid him. However, if his performance resembles the TB game, Brees WILL take advantage. I can't wait for next sunday to see if Smith can be consistent (especially against a good QB in Ryan). So far he has had 2 impressive games and 1 fairly bad showing. It is very encouraging that he played the way he did last night and will be going into Week 1 confident.

No surprise here. I said before the draft that Jenkins and our own Vontae were overrated and not first rounders...

That is not to say they won't be good someday...but I don't think either were first-day picks...

It wasn't Lance Moore. It was Courtney Roby.

I don't think Lance Moore could have out jumped Smith anyways....Moore is short, like 5'10" or something.

If i am Matt Ryan, and i am watching game film- which i am sure he is- i am thinking "wow, what an int. I better be on target if i am going to throw at this guy".
Now, that's pressure no matter how you slice it.

After looking, its more like 5'9", which, of course, means he is really closer to 5'8"

If I was Matt Ryan, I would throw to Gonzales all day.
