After facing some of the bigger defensive fronts in the NFL like the Chargers and Jets (big ol' Kris Jenkins comes to mind), the Olines have to be breathing a sigh of relief to be taking on a Colts-esque type front 7.

Jonathan Vilma for one is a measely (haha) 230 pound middle linebacker.
In comparison, Matt Roth who is a bit oversized is a whopping 275.

Scott Fujita is the Saints biggest LB and hes most likely out for Sundays game. (He didnt practice on the all important Friday before the game). He was actually good against the run, but a liability in coverage. Think, a poor mans Channing Crowder.

Troy Evans should start in his place. He's listed at 238 pounds. Oh and he also sucks. In his 8 year career, he has never started. He first played for the Texans.

Scott Shanle (who?) is the most likely guy to be the run stopping LB the Saints will desperately need on Sunday. He's 245 pounds and is good against the run. He also has 2 INTs on the year.

Sedrick Ellis is 307 so hes got some size. He actually hasnt been very good against the run despite what many would think.

Remi Ayodele is the big guy at 318. He splits time with Anthony Hargrove who is extremely undersized at 272. All three are below average when trying to stop the run.
Many of you will be pleasantly surprised to see how effectively we run the ball to start the game. The Saints as we all know score, and score fast taking teams away from their balanced attack, meaning less running plays. So their 5th against the run BS is exactly that, BS. In fact, they have the least amounts of rushing attempts against in the 2nd half in the league.

Finally, at defensive end, the Saints have good, underrated pass rushers. Will Smith and Charles Grant can put pressure on the QB but at around 280, they're no match for Vernon Carey (340 pounds!!) who in my opinion is the best run blocking RT in the game this year. Jake Long is no slouch either at 317 pounds. He's an all-pro LT who already had great success as a run blocker but is now becoming a great pass blocking tackle as well. He'll swallow up both Grant and Smith. And I'd love for the Saints to put in Bobby Mccray in on passing downs. At 260 pounds, hes a pancake block all day for our massive tackles. Hes a force as a pass rusher but I dont see him getting in the game much. With our great success on 1st and 2nd downs, it'll be hard to put him in the game as he is a huge liability in the run game.

You're forgetting that Miami has the 2nd highest ranked Tight end blocking tandem in the NFL.. Their metric blocking scores are 2nd best in the league.

And one of our blocking tight ends is 6'8 and weighs 270.

Plus we have FB Lousaka Polite who is blocking and knocking heads like All-Pro Lorenzo Neal during his prime years.

Our O-line has done a fabulous job of run blocking, but our TE's and FB should be mentioned more.

They have been excellent too. Haynos, Fasano and Polite look so much stronger this year. Parcells' off season weight training program has paid big dividends for them... And our great running game.

I get what you are saying, but I am telling you.. don't trust listed size. Grant and Smith are both large for DEs. Grant especially. Grant looks VERY much like a DT than a DE. You couldn't be any further off by saying Grant is undersized to your LT. But I know you where going by listed weights so its all good.

it doesnt matter about weight and hight it is all about the skill set and the leverage

Let's not get ****y. On paper, we should be able to run quite well against the Saints. It's the defense that has me nervous.

im not concerned with our O line dominating, its our D line that needs to get natural pressure without dialing up blitzes. natural pressure=good coverage. id expect this to be a slow grind it out game from both sides. I like merling or mcdaniels to finish the day with a sack or two.

Everyone has been able to run on NO`s, the key is to stay with it and score TD`s. Each of their opponents got behind early and abandoned the run, surprisingly the NYG`s did it aswell. Our coaching staff knows enough to continue to protect Henne with a strong run game plan.

This game will be decided by our defense, pressure, turnovers and key 3rd down stops will all be needed to have a shot at winning this game. I think if we hold NO to 3 TD`s we win anything more and it`s gonna be tough.

We all know the key to this game is our defense containing their amazing offense, and our clock management on offense. Regardless if we go down by two TDs, I dont see us going away from our bread and butter, because of the success it has. The only time I see us going to a passing attack is if we are down by two scores in the 4th quarter. We MUST get pressure on Brees, and get him to release the ball earlier than he wants to. We have to contain Shockey and Colston, but we must also watch for dump offs to Bush as well. There are a lot of skill on the Saints offensive side, and it all starts with Brees. We MUST get pressure without going all out with blitzes.

Not to throw a wrench in your gears, but the Giants average oline height and weight is 6.40, 315.20.. and guess what our oline average height and weight is...6.46, 315.40... The saints front seven did a pretty decent job of not letting the Giants get into the endzone more than often than the saints offense.. Although Eli did turn the ball over twice.. But even if they scored TD's on those two drive they committed turnovers they still would have lost 41-48.

my only concern is reggie bush on passing plays our line backers and safetys are slow !

I don't care if the Phins get down 14-0. They MUST remain patient and continue to pound the ball and stick to what they do best. If they try and get in a shootout with the Saints, they will lose big.
I wouldn't consider abandoning the gameplan until midway through the 4th quarter if they are down by more than 2 scores.
They need to play like they did against the Colts, except the offense has to finish drives and not settle for FG's and the defense needs to not give up big plays.
The Colts game was lost on the 1st play of the game and the last TD drive which took all of 2 plays.

The thing this coaching staff has that we have not had in several years is the patience to stay with the run. We had too many years where Ronnie only ran 14-16 times a game.

The Saints DL is better then we have faced but their LBs are lesser. They can beat us with quickness but maybe not against a slam ahead running game. I'm glad that we are running well with the Wildcat but I'm even happier that we run well out of it. The true big plays (like the bomb to Ginn) will come out of a I formation play Action Pass etc. For the Play Action pass to work, the defense has to be actively trying to stop the run. One big reason that Ginn was so open was that both Jets Safeties were pulled up to stop the run.

But it is true that the important part of this game will be how well if at all we can stop their offense. Reggie Bush really has not done much but one big play by him could be a killer.

I like the Giants Oline, but I think our Oline is the best at the run, and one of the best in the league overall. That line plays that way, and it shows by the way they rough the crap out of the opposition. There is a swagger with that line, one that we havent seen in some time!

So the Saint's stink versus the run is what I'm getting out of your novel...but oh contraire then why are they #5 in the nfl against the run...I'm thinking smoke and mirrors:err:

By this logic, the Saints should be 0-5, because they've been "out-sized" by every offensive line they've played against this season.

As a matter of fact, I'm guessing just about every single defense in the league would be "outsized" by every single offensive line.

That's just the way it works, because offensive linemen are bigger, as a general rule.
