According to Chris Mortenson the Saints are interested in Drew Brees. The Saints were $10 million under the cap before the new $102 mil CBA and have yet to cut a single player to clear even more cap room (Brooks alone will be another $4+ million). Rumors are floating around that the team is interested in signing Brees then trading down with the Jets to gain much needed draft picks to fill holes. If it comes down to just money the Saints get Brees unless Saban can do one heck of sales job.......

If you have that much cap room I am curious as to why the Saints are not trying harder to resign Bentley.

Bentley wants a $5 million dollar a year deal with an $11+ mil SB. As a Saints fan I can tell you he's overrated around the league as a Center. He's a dominating, destroying Guard but does not want to play Guard. I hate to see him go but if losing him frees up cap space to pursue FAs (like Brees) I can live with it. Resigning him would've eaten up a large chunk of our available cap space. BTW - the Saints running game actually got better when Bentley was "hurt" in the last half of last season (word out of the lockerroom has it that Bentley refused to play for lameduck Haslett last season. Still think he's great?).

I think they are hoping Nick Mangold is there with pick 34.

I think if the choice is between playing in Miami or New Orleans...hell chose Miami.

IMO.

Maybe....if he's offered the choice between a blockbuster deal from the Saints or a "nice" deal from the Phins....are you still that confident? If the deals are similar in amounts of course he signs with Miami. Might not matter anyway - there are rumors are running rampant that the Phins and Vikes are working a deal for Culpepper (don't kill the messenger)........

I have to agree with this. N.O is going to be really bad for a really long time. and they do not have the greatest front office from owner all the way down.

New Orleans' offense is just as talented as Miami's. The problem, as you mentioned, is their front office and owner. I don't think it is certain that they will be bad for a long time. The Saints will get a good qb through the draft and have alot of potential.
