We can really do some damage now, if we restructure patterson and wallace we can get anyone we want, and still look good next year. Per Adam Schefer.

I was hoping it would peak at around 130 now the ravens have a legit shot at getting the Monroe deal done.

Time to spend some of that money. With the big jump in salary cap coming in the next few years lots of teams will be in better situations. Especially ones with high QB contract numbers. For once I am happy with something that Ireland did, not spending all of the cap space the Fins had last year.

Hopefully with this new idea into what the cap situations will be like in the next couple years the Fins should be able resign Grimes and Starks/Soliai while still having enough cap space to bring in both a high quality T and G as well as a couple cheaper veterans for depth.

Actually this rewards teams that spent big the last few years. This is going to dry up the free agent market and the ones that do hit the market will get outrageous contracts. Last year would have been the year to spend a lot and then grt some breathing room with the cap increase.

So in other words, teams that played it smart and didn't over spend now got screwed over by the NFL.

Classic.

Teams in cap hell can now breath easy and go back on the spending trail.

Teams that had a nice cap situation entering FA now have more competition than previously thought.

Would it have been ideal, yes. But based on who Ireland released and brought in last year it would have probably been a disaster. At least now we have someone different making the decision on who to spend the money on. Will it be better spent, who knows? Sometimes the unknown is definitely a better solution than what past results indicate.

The Wallace cap hit drops by $5M next year, and if we keep Matt Moore, his $5M hit comes off the books next year as well. We can easily pay less this year and more next year to a FA.

The only players who have expiring contracts after this year that I see as needs are Clay and Odrick, wh we may want to extend.

Hard to say what Balt will do but, the extra money does not help us with Monroe. I still don't think they will tag him, and they have the big Flacco contract to deal with.

Has anyone seen any other teams reported to be looking for a LT other than Balt, Zona, and us?

Just spend wisely Dawn. You dont have to spend to look good. You just have to spend the money on certain players who are worth it even if you go over on them. Forget anyone who is not top ten in league for big money.

Pittsburgh? I mean, people may think they are allright. I think their Oline was putrid. yeah injuries but they were working with 3rd stringers with Starks molestation man.

This hike will hurt our chances. The list of free agents will keep on getting smaller.

Ozzy rules!!

I just think it's bull crap that now teams that should be in trouble for being reckless can breath easy.

Like raising the debt ceiling basically.

Oh...half NFL teams are in cap hell? Lets raise it up some so they don't get hurt.

This is what keeps teams on level playing fields. Pay super stars crazy money and the rest of your team suffers. Now teams like the Ravens that have the Flacco hell contract can rest easy with an additional $14 over next 2 years.

Pitt has never been known to spend a lot on FA, don't see them as a concern. Other teams will be looking to a deep OT draft. I believe we should be able to take care of LT with not a lot of bidding. I can also see some good vet RT's being released after the draft.

I'm thinking that the cap increase will cause more of a FA impact in the CB market, with many teams looking.

All teams knew that, after a 40% in TV revenue, this was coming. It was just a matter of when. The only thing Miami could have done differently last year was to pull the trigger on the Albert trade, which we had the money for anyhow.

It likely will, to a degree but, FA contracts have been going up the last couple of year while the cap has not, and actually went down. I believe that teams being forced to spend 90% of the cap has more bearing on the FA market dwindling that the 8% cap increase.

Despite the cap hike most teams are telling their free agents to shop around and let the market set their value. I think the draft being so deep this year will hurt the free agent market...that's just how I see it.
