Were a little over 5 million under the cap.

So if we're willing to give Arrington 5 mil a year how would we sign any draft picks???
Just becasue we give arrington 5 million a year doesnt mean he eats up all 5 million under the salary cap. Its all prorated.

We get so much money to sign picks

You give this years 5 mil in a signing bonus and spread the hit over 5 years...then give him a 4-5 million salary next year...or put in a roster bonus or something. We will prolly need less than 2.5 million for our draft picks...the first rounder will be the only one worth money..all others will be near vet minimum contracts if they even make the team (3 7th's)

so with only 5 mil in cap room u see us able to pay 4 arrington, possibly joey harrington, and our draft choices?

good point - throwing harrington into the mix changes things bc he is only signing a 2 year contract (the number for him supposed to be 1.5-2 million a year?) anyhow it should still be fine, bc we'll be making cuts along the way.

Don't forgoet that we have some players that are willing to restructure their contracts in order tro give us more cap space. If Saban and crew decide that paying Arrington and possibly Harrington are good investments for the team they will find a way to get it done without plunging the team into salaray cap purgatory.

Either way, we could STILL restructure a few contracts if we needed to. They know what they're doing. There's gonna be plenty of money for a backup QB, all draft picks, AND possibly Arrington or any other we may pick up.

Actually, we are currently $4.3 million under the cap. That is the exact number.
All this is not really relavent considering that there are about 72 players on our roster right now and of course as the cut downs come along, our cap will free up nicely. We had so many drains under the poor deals that wandstadt made over the years that it caught up with us.Just ask David Boston how many passes he caught since he became a Dolphin and how much he got paid.Madison outlived the cash he was getting paid and proved last year to Saban and the rest of us that he wasn't worth it.We could go on with this disscussion but you all know well enough what our shortcomings have been over the years. We will wind up in good shape once the smoke clears with the types of deals Saban is putting together.Several restructures and several cuts have insured this.

I agree, that number can easily change. I believe by restructuring both Thomas and Taylor we can gain up to $8 million in cap room. The cap right now is not a problem at all.

Actually, we have to allocate a set amount of money to the drafted players. That is set by the rankings of how many guys we drafted and where in the draft we got them, but it is part of the overall cap number, not an additional amount...
