Salguero: Chad Henne stinking it up in the fourth quarter

Theres no doubt The whole damn team needs to step it up especially the 4th quarter.

Yes Chad Henne has not been even close to his best in the the 4th quarter. He needs to step it up.

Also going into the last drive for the Browns McCoy was 10-26 and on that drive alone he went 8-13 for 80 yards and a TD.The defense also needs to step it .

You can point the finger all over the locker room but to solely point it at 1 person is just foolish.

Not really. Brady is a great QB, but the stats he is putting up are mind numbing. Thats a combination of being great and having FOREVER to throw. Brady has been putting up MVP numbers for years, but these numbers are historic.

While you are giving Brady more credit than the poster I had referred to, I would expect all Dolfans to have a real respect for the man and specifically the importance of the position after week 1. He singlehandedly opened a can of whoopa$$ on us... This with a rook on Wake and AFTER losing his starting journeyman Center on that 'vaunted' OL you want to give so much credit to.

The truth is Brady did more to nullify the pass rush HIMSELF by moving to the up tempo no huddle game that HE was CALLING... he didn't just beat us with his arm or his legs but he outsmarted every player on D and every coach right up into the booth while he sliced and diced better than a Ginsu.

I would think that after suffering through that monday night 'pantsing' in front of a national audience... every Dolfan would have begrudgingly understood just how important superior QB play is... And how he can make EVERYONE around him better, not the other way round. Well, everybody except Jeff Ireland.

yes Brady is that good... hey I love Marino too but that guy deserves all the credit he gets. Go ahead, take away my J-LO monogrammed Dolfan Orange Carpet membership card if you want... I'm not afraid to admit it.

Im well aware of how important it is. Also well aware of how great Brady is (top 3 all time, IMO), but you put brady on our team and he isnt putting up Madden rookie mode numbers. Not saying hed blow here...he would still put up great numbers and probably get us into the playoffs, but I dont think you can put up the insane stats he is putting p this year w/o a great team.

You are correct that by themselves they are facts. Nobody will deny that. They become excuses when you use them to justify Henne's repeated poor performance in the 4th quarter. Nobody is saying Henne is the main reason we suck. He isnt. But he is part of the problem. He needs to either improve his 4th quarter performance or GTFO. Its total bull**** to think the entire team except Henne just stops playing at the end of the 3rd and they make Henne look bad. Thats just retarded. Henne was good for three quarters last week, then **** the bed in the 4th and our most crucial drive of the season. Thats a fact and a recurring one at that.

dude, we had like 41 seconds to score, are you kidding me right now?
speaking of ppl that stop playing, that defense, made colt mccoy look like john elway on the browns last drive. if we are going to tell henne to "gtfo", due to 4th qtr performance we need to tell it to everyone else, and if we do so, we won't be able to fill a roster... the bottom line is, this team sucks on so many levels....

Reading. Try it. I know its hard, but if youre gonna post on a message board, its a great skill to have. Did I not say that the team has MANY other problems in that same exact post you quoted? I didnt pin the entire game on Henne. I did, however, state the fact that Henne came up short when we needed him most. Are you implying that 41 seconds is not enough time to drive 15 or 20 yards? Or one yard for that matter. He got nothing. Zilch. 41 to get 20 yards is an eternity. Remember the Texans game 2 or 3 years ago where Shaub went about 50 in the same about of time or less to beat us? No excuses. He didnt get it done.

if all we are going to do is compare henne to ****ing tom brayd and matt schaub henne is going to lose everytime. what I'm implying is through almost 60 minutes we managed 16 points, what on earth would make anyone think we will score 7, 3 or even 1 in 41 seconds. do I remember the texans game three years ago? no. I have no idea what a game three years ago would have to do with today or tomorrow or the next day.

fact of the matter, with 1:55 left in the game we were ahead by six. with 41 seconds left in the game we were down by one.
you can't put that on henne.

I can put it on Henne that he played like *** the 4th quarter and did nothing on the final drive. Thats on him. What the D did is on the D, what Henne did is on Henne. And if its unfair to compare Henne to Schaub, then why the **** are you defending him? We will never win **** with him if he cant even be compared to Schaub.

There are some valid points in the article. Everyone gets the point about Henne. Worse of all, he should be livid after some of these offensive failures. He should be visibly upset to the point it may rub a few people wrong. Good QB's aren't afraid to show emotions, Henne is.

i dont think he is afraid. i think its just who he is.

and mando, which QB is a lefty?

i was only defending (or trying to defend) the fact that not very many dudes are gonna get much done in 41 seconds. fact of the matter is, I think henne is average with the potential to be slightly above average. I think he is probably the teams 6th or 7th biggest problem this year....

as far as not winning **** with him goes... good, that's the whole idea this year.

Last I checked 41 seconds was enough for him to run 4 plays. Any NFL QB can and should be able to get a first down in that time, and it was little more than a first down he needed to at least give us a chance to win the game. And considering I've seen QB's drive down the entire field with that time (with less timeouts) it wasn't that much to expect of Henne.

yea we needed a field goal to win, from a kicker who already missed a 36 yarder... we were a lock to win, if only we didnt' have henne at qb.... i know.

any qb should be able to get a first down, and any qb COULD throw a pic, and any player COULD fumble... that last 41 seconds is NOT why we LOST the game bro.

i dont get this logic, henne played average all game, like he always does and we were ahead by 6 with 1:55 to go. you could so far as to say we were ahead by 6 with 43 seconds to go... and we lose, and it's hennes ****ing fault??? i can't get behind that.

Matt Ryan went down field and into FG position in less then 20 seconds. As a rookie.

It isn't just the 41 seconds it's that in 4 plays he couldn't move 15 yards. There was still more then enough time on the clock when he was picked off on 4th down.

My problem with the article and most of your views here is that you guy's are acting as if Henne in on the field by himself. On that last drive where we needed 15 yards to kick the FG, i didn't see henne overthrow or underthrow any OPEN receivers I did see receivers fail to get separation, and run their route out of bounds. Who's fault is that. If no one gets open how is that henne's fault. And yes some QB's can throw players open but i don't have the confidence in any of our receivers that if Henne's throws them the ball when they're covered that they will come down with the ball. What's more likely to happen is that the DB will outplay the Receiver and intercept the ball then you all will be bashing Henne for throwing picks. Henne's fine the problem is he doesn't have one receiver that he can trust to make a play when they're covered so he has to take sacks or run.

At some point in a QB's career it becomes apparent that he either has it or he doesn't. He is either a clutch player or he is not. Even with weak supporting casts you can still tell a great QB from a mediocre one.

I am starting to believe Henne is one of those mediocre to good QB's that simply will never be great or be a big clutch player.

That being the case....the search for the right guy has to continue.
