not sure he could do worse
Ya well honestly, I didn't think we could do worse than Saban. Man did Cam Cameron prove me wrong.
If peterson comes, I imagine that takes us out of the running for the big three coaches. I just don't see them as a match.
not sure he could do worse
Carl Peterson being around is more than just a friendly visit.
If Peterson wants back into the football business I believe Ross will make it happen.
i agree with you. i just think the way to success is not to tear down the whole team every damn 3 years! you bring in some guy who may or may not really gel with Ross's vision as they get to know each other etc. who wants all control, who starts bringing in his own rejects (just like tony and jeff's dallas rejects) he tries to build some final legacy thing and it doesnt work out, he realizes its boring and frustrating and he walks out again.
If Ireland and Ross get along, and ireland understands Ross's vision etc. and already has some pieces in place, let him stay a few more years. . . keep building the team and bring in a new coach and QB a whole new coaching staff and see what happens. we have several young guys who need some more time. why throw these kids away? they need coaches who utlize their strengths and develop them correctly.
i have to say im still very much in favor of bringing on gruden. of course the one thing we simply dont know is how that would work behind the scenes and how much control he would want. the same is true with cowher, and in cowhers case we know he wants his own guys and complete control. my concern is exactly what u pointed out - with cowher. complete housing cleaning followed by potentially a guy that perhaps doesnt see the job through to the end.
its gotta be the right mix. and whoever is making the picks and whoever is coaching need to work in harmony, completely in sync.
as fans that is ABSOLUTELY the ONE THING we can simply never know - is if the ideas we put forth, while in theory, might make sense - if the chemistry and the ideals and vision of all parties are not aligned. we can simply never know. so we dont have the correct answer necessarily. we simply dont have enough information to make that call.
this is why jerseyfinfan made a very valid point about ross's vision. so far i dont see anything to dislike about it. even tho so many fans hate for no reason.
the guy wants to win. he wants to be exciting offensively, and he wants gameday to be an experience. that sounds like a winner to me!
going to games prior to his arrival i felt like i was still in the 70s with the stupid dolphins fight song played etc. i dont know whats changed. but he obviously knows the experience wasnt good enough before. and it wasnt.
ive been critical of some of irelands moves. but it seems maybe he didnt have the ok to find some players, and one draft can only go so far.
we dont know - MAYBE ireland wanted matt ryan - we dont know he didnt. all we know is he wasnt making the choices. its clear LONG, MERLING, HENNE, PAT WHITE - those we ALL bill PARCELLS picks. shawn murphy, earnest wilford, trading satele, ginn, signing grove, smiley....these WERE ALL PARCELLS MOVES. so how do KNOW ireland hasnt made good choices evaluating talent? he did a pretty good job with this draft. it really looks like pouncey, and thomas are going to be very good players. i really think Jimmy Wilson has shown enough to say that he can develop into a guy that makes plays. clyde gates im not at all impressed with BUT its only his first year and ireland was kinda forced to add some speed to the roster - so it WASNT a bad pick. kearse has been stolen essentially because we didnt add him to the roster. so it looks like a good draft. it looks more promising early on with the picks we had than ANY previous draft under parcells. AND i might add that ireland is the guy that FOUGHT with bill parcells about taking demarcus Ware.
looks like ireland got that one correct. parcells wanted to draft spears
Did you guys ever stop to think that Ross does not want them trading away his draft picks or putting him close to the cap so whoever comes in here has cap space and a full compliment of picks?
I am not saying Ross is doing that but knowing how everyone is on the hot seat, it is a thought to consider. Additionally, If Ross really wants Cowher, Carl Peterson will not be the GM. He is merely offering hs advice to Ross on who to consider.
Ross not allowing Ireland to spend money could have a far more charitable interpretation. It prevented Ireland and Sparano from making the kind of decisions thathandicap a team in the long-term in order to save their ***** short-term. It can also have a more sinister interpretation: Ross doesn't want to spend because he doesn't have the resources to spend. The guy's net worth was made in real estate. I can think of no business in a more precarious situation now. Ross' Related Companies
are one of the biggest, if not the biggest player in South Florida condo development and if anyone knows the state of Miami's condo market it's an epic disaster. Buildings that are over-leveraged and virtually empty.
I don't claim to be an expert in such things, but I don't see how he's making money on many of his real estate holdings.
The debt levels on the buildings themselves, lack of tenets and rents in the commercial sector and declining values and homebuyers in the residential sector, especially the condo niche which has been the domain of flippers trying to make a quick buck for years, and I frankly don't see how Ross isn't experiencing some financial difficulties, his net worth aside, he's got to have cash flow from the team or from his outside businesses to have the resources to chase high priced players and coaches.
