Man, Armando has some pretty tough stuff in there. It's deserved though. If I picture Ross the way he painted him walking down the corridor, then I see a man who is completely unlearned about his own team, and what needs to be done. If he listens as intently to Ireland as Mando describes, I can only wonder how much further he, and this team, will spiral downward.

Ross not allowing Ireland to spend money could have a far more charitable interpretation. It prevented Ireland and Sparano from making the kind of decisions that handicap a team in the long-term in order to save their ***** short-term. It can also have a more sinister interpretation: Ross doesn't want to spend because he doesn't have the resources to spend. The guy's net worth was made in real estate. I can think of no business in a more precarious situation now. Ross' Related Companies are one of the biggest, if not the biggest player in South Florida condo development and if anyone knows the state of Miami's condo market it's an epic disaster. Buildings that are over-leveraged and virtually empty.

I don't claim to be an expert in such things, but I don't see how he's making money on many of his real estate holdings. The debt levels on the buildings themselves, lack of tenets and rents in the commercial sector and declining values and homebuyers in the residential sector, especially the condo niche which has been the domain of flippers trying to make a quick buck for years, and I frankly don't see how Ross isn't experiencing some financial difficulties, his net worth aside, he's got to have cash flow from the team or from his outside businesses to have the resources to chase high priced players and coaches.

No doubt Ross is taking a hit financially and when he bought the team there was some concerns about his cash flow but I don't see any issue with not spending money on high priced coaches or players because he can't afford it. After all, he was willing to pay Harbaugh 7 million + to coach.

I agree. I don't necessarily see his inability to spend, if indeed that is the case, as something of immediate concern. Idiot owners often try to use money to paper over festering wounds. Daniel Snyder has infamously done this in Washington. More financially constrained ownerships like those in Indianapolis and San Diego for example, have done just fine over the years because they have great general managers in Bill Polian and AJ Smith. Huizenga was willing to spend and that didn't help us. But if Ross is so constrained financially that he can't spend even if he wants to spend, I think that's a real problem going forward.

We simply don't have enough information to know why he told Ireland to not spend. It could very well be because he didn't want Ireland and Sparano doing something stupid to hurt the team long-term to save their jobs now. I feared that scenario when he brought the 2 of them back. Desperate men do desperate things. Whatever Ross may be, you don't usually get to be that wealthy, especially in real estate where con men are king, if you don't have an innate sense of how to deal with people, when to hold, when to fold and when to walk away. I don't think Ross knows anything about football or even marketing, but he was obviously sharp enough to see that Sparano should have been gone last year, I'm just going to assume Ireland wasn't allowed to spend because he couldn't be trusted to spend it.

2. So he keeps Tony Sparano, who historically has shown ZERO knowledge of how to get his teams into the endzone, showing massive enthusiasm for "exciting" field goals! Oh, and he keeps Jeff Ireland, who contributes to this "exciting" offense by consistently rotating **** talent in and out of it and also hires a guy who ran an even worse/less exciting offense in Cleveland to call plays that SUCK. "exciting."

This franchise has NO pulse, and if Ross has his finger on it to check it, it's because he wants to see if he's killed it enough yet.

People like to say that the owner is the problem...unfortunately you can't get rid of an owner like you can get rid of a front office. Until the Dolphins becomes a liability/becomes insolvent for Stephen Ross, he is here to say. You would think more people would know that.

We have to have faith that Ross has something up his sleeve. Carl Peterson was with him at today's game. There's rumblings going on behind the scenes. Something is going down and will begin to emerge soon.

listen i agree that we are a losing team with this regime. i cant stand the fact that parcells was even here. but there are so many factors to consider here. one of them being, parcells didnt want to take the job if huizenga was going to sell the team. he had a good relationship with wayne. he wanted those assurances when he signed up. he got them. then wayne sold the team. perhaps parcells just simply didnt want to work with ross. we dont know what their relationship was like behind the scenes or how parcells felt. all we can do is speculate.

one thing is certain. the credibility of this coaching staff and front office left the day parcells walked out the door. he left these guys out to dry. if this team didnt have immediate success they were setup to fail. because tony sparano is not a good head coach, and suddenly those players had nothing to fear. im happy parcells left tho, and im happy he left when he did. they brought in too many highpriced injury prone veterans and sabotaged a rebuild in their first year. that winning came with a price. the price was the expectation of winning from that point forward, combined with putting ourselves in a position to not acquire talent as elite as we might have had access to. we lost a couple potential impact players because of the choice to win now. pennington seemed like a god send. in reality he was a burden. that team should have gone 4-12 under henne and then they could have had a couple years to build it correctly absent of expectations for henne to play as well as pennington, and for the team to be in the playoffs in the second year. they collapsed under the expectations, and all it took was a couple injuries.

we are in much better shape now.

as far as your backfield comments. this backfield is lightyears better than what weve had. d. thomas is a stud. he just needs to learn the position and pick up blitzes better. reggie bush has elite athleticism. he needs to be used properly. and there isnt anything polite could do that hilliard cant. polite was so overrated by this fanbase. HES A FULLBACK. he was a liability when he was on the field cause he couldnt block last year and he cant do anything with the ball in his hands - he cant catch out of the backfield. who knows what clay offers, but he was very versatile in college.

ronnie brown cant stay healthy an entire season, has no explosiveness anymore, and never breaks tackles.
ricky talked **** about this staff in the offseason is what 35 years old? couldnt get to the edge like he did a couple years ago, and wasnt breaking any tackles either.

its not even close. this backfield is much better than what we had last year. they need to be used correctly, and the staff needs to find that balance, reggie needs to get them ball on the edge, but im not sure our guards are athletic enough to get him the ball where he needs it to be used correctly.

I firmly believe the owners were prepared to have no season or at least a shortened season, Sparano wasn't the only questionable coaching decision around the league and no big name coaches were hired with the exception of Harbaugh. It also explains the Daboll hire.
