Beat writer Armando Salguero fully expects Chad Henne to beat out rookie Pat White for the Dolphins' backup quarterback job.
White is only 6'0 with a string-bean build to Henne's 6'2/226. Henne's arm is clearly stronger and he has a year in the system. White reportedly "sailed quite a few passes" at the Dolphins' first minicamp and struggled to throw deep outs. White is unlikely to be more than a package player in 2009.

Well if Armando thinks it to be true then it must be accurate. He is always so reliable.

Just read the article. I think most people expect Henne to beat out White. White will probably have to be something very special to beat out Henne, and if he is, I won't complain.

But, the smart money's on Henne. White will be our Tyler Thigpen. If KC had a defense and a more traditional offense to turn to at certain points last year, they would have been tough. Thinking of KC last year, I can see White heading the spread more than 7-10 snaps a game - at some point this season.

Thank you for not posting the link so I didnt have to go to click on his page and give him undeserved credit for his crap*** writing.

He's a s***** writer so I never click on his links and give the herald more of a reason to keep him around

And we are giving credibility to Armando's opinion because...

You mean to tell me there are fins fans who actually believe Pat White is going to beat out Chad Henne?

LMFAO.

I mean I know there are a bunch of 15 year olds who think so, but no one over the age of 21 can possibly believe this.

Because...in this case he's probably right?

The word probably is not the same as a sure thing.

One has to wonder how weak an arm White has if he's hitting 40-50 yd passes down field...of course that was missing from Salquero's article.

In any case....White brings alot more to the Dolphins than Beck would have.

"But his deep outs and 9-routes (deep up the sideline) throws were unimpressive to me. They get there, but not with the velocity of a Henne pass."

How do these guys become sports writers? Is not a 40 yd completion a 40 yd completion? Did White not throw a 50 yd completion for a TD to Armstrong his first day at camp?

Henne has the advantage, a yr in the system, a yr learning from Penny, and undoubtably a stronger arm....Mando went so far out on a limb as to say he fully expects Henne to beat him out.....DUH! It would take a lot for White to beat out Henne this yr. But what about 2010?

Chad Henne is and will be our number 2 QB no matter what the game day roster states because of this new rule in the NFL.....He is our 2nd best QB and will be throughout the year that simple!

No. It isn't. And there isn't a football coach out there that would tell you that all 40 yard completions are created equally, from a QB talent standpoint.

Maybe you should have given a comparison like a Chad pennington type 40 yard out throw vs..say Jay culter 40 yard out throw.. and let ppl watch the difference, then it might make some sense to them of what you're saying..
