Salguero reports on Draft picks

Chris Clemons, the fifth round pick, seems to be the most puzzling of the three unigned draft picks.
There are only two players in the fifth round not signed and the other is punter Thomas Morstead with New Orleans. He was picked No. 164. Clemons No. 165.
Everyone else is done near I can tell. The Dolphins have their offer into Clemons and Jeff Darlington tells me it is their final offer. It is up to Clemons agent to take it ... or not.
I believe he'll take it because most do as the deadline for camp opening nears. This should be done already!

On the Pat White situation: He will sign a four-year deal worth approximately $4 million with approximately $2.5-$2.6 million in guarantees.
Why this hasn't happened depends on who you ask. I believe it will get done by Sunday if both sides get things in gear and NEGOTIATE. It's not rocket science. Even I sorta understand it.

On the Vontae Davis situation, no player taken between No. 22 overall and No. 27 overall has a contact yet.
As those deals get done in the next two to three days, then Davis should slot into a deal. His agent, Todd France, also represents Ronnie Brown. France is talking to the Dolphins about both Davis and Brown.

I know there has been mentioned on these boards that Ireland is making them pay for leaking negotiation information earlier on, but I dont buy this one bit.

I do not think Ireland would play revenge game with Negotiations.

I beleive this has something to do with Clemons Agent holding this up somehow.

Yea this is getting dumb now . . . how far off can they be?

These agents want every little dime possible . . . this will be a big blow to this kid's career if he doesn't sign in time . . . a 5th rounder? I mean they can only be off a few thousands . . . if the agent wants big dollars, Chris needs to earn that contract on the field.

Well, seems like the Fins are serious about their final offer and will let Clemons and his agent bite first.

You have to love how Armando confirms France is speaking to Phins about Brown

Man.. really getting worried about Clemons now. I want this guy on our team bad, he showed tons of potential..

He will sign. His agent might be stubborn, but he is not dumb. He is not going to risk a 5th round client a chance in the NFL over minor contract issues. He will cave to what the Dolphins offered.

Yeah, probably.. just a little paranoid. We haven't had a young safety with potential in awhile.. well, JA, but .. that's JA.

Yes Todd France kept Brown out of camp, but also remember it was under Saban's regime. I dont see why Davis is not signed and delivered.

Because none of the picks ahead of him have a deal yet?

Or did you mean Clemons?

I heard that there was another senior defensiveback on the board who was also from Clemson, and many felt he was better than Clemons. :rolleyes2: Hope he works out.

I think that everyone needs to relax and until camp starts, just wait and see. It is not that uncommon for this to happen. No way are they going to let either Pat White or Vontae Davis go. As for Clemons I highly doubt they couldn't come to an agreement, but ya never know.

Clemons just needs to get into camp and take what ever deal they offered he has to relize he isnt a First round pick
