This guy gets me fired up EVERY week!! He CAN'T tackle, makes BONEHEAD penalties and talks trash. Hey Sam, just play the game and shut up. You're half the man you used to be!

I hope Saban cleans the fridge in the offseason and this joker is one of the first to go!

Sam definitely is not at the same level of play that he used to be, but he's still a great DB. Michael Clayton didnt do a damn thing yesterday except make one catch for a first down. Our rookie Travis Daniels got exploited yesterday. Like Ive mentioned in the past, we definitely are missing Surtain. We should have at the very least franchised him. Vonnie Holliday, Kevin Carter, etc were some decent additions but nowhere near the value of what Surtain could be to us right now. We're way too deep with depth on our D-line right now.

If you look at the replay of the long Pittman TD run via the on-the-field camera, you'll see that Madison got all twisted around on the play and put himself way out of position. I agree that he's a liability against the run game (not just because of that play), but he's the best we got in pass coverage right now.

Clayton didn't get a lot of looks because Galloway was giving a clinic to Daniels.
I understand that he's the best option right now, but I can't tell you how many times I see this guy out of position, going for a strip and not wrapping up and then barking at an opposing player and/or an official. He's a constant reminder of an underachieving D and I can't stand it!

Starting to agree with that statement. Haven't seen him make a play in a while and he is a terrible tackler.

His coverage is decent.. But his tackling is horrble.

Decent is being kind.

I could overlook the garbage that he does with the way he ran his coverage back in the day, but it's just a HUGE negative now.

That had nothing to do with us. Clayton hasn't done anything the whole year.

i like madison and his poor tackling was always made up for with his ability to make plays. He is still decent in coverage but the big plays just arent coming. I wouldnt be surprised if he is out next year when will poole comes back. I think Poole and Daniels could be our cornerbacks of the future. We just need a good nickel cause Howard is the worst football player Ive ever seen (well maybe maybe not as bad Jeff Ogden).

Madison played very well on Sunday. Let's not forget that a cornerback's primary job is to cover, not to tackle. Cornerbacks that can tackle are nice, probably even required in Saban's schemes, but most corners are not good tacklers. Their main job is to shut down the opposing receiver, and Madison has been doing a pretty good job of that this season.

Is Madison a great tackler? No, but he's still better than average in coverage. Daniels is a very good tacker, but he has a lot to learn when it comes to covering NFL receivers. Who is the bigger liability?? (hint, think Steve Smith and Joey Galloway) Same goes for Howard, who by coincidence, is good at neither.

As for the long Pittman run, the corners job is to contain in most instances. Pittman did not run down the sideline, he ran right down the hash. If you want to blame someone for that run, blame JT and Crowder. JT looked lost in the backfield and Crowder got juked in the hole. Madison did his job.

madison isnt looking like he used to for a couple of reasons. One he's getting older and second, he's not being used like he was in the past. Madison has always been a press corner. If you watch him in coverage now, our defensive scheme is having our DBs play soft. That type of coverage gets me so frustrated. I understand allowing T. Daniels to play soft so he doesnt get even more exploited than he is now. He's a rookie, thats going to happen for awhile until he adjusts to the NFL. But c'mon, Madison is still a good DB. Yea he's blown some tackles but what defensive player on our team hasn't. The last player I could say that for before the Bucs game was JT but Pittman took care of that one. You guys are quick to say get rid of Madison but he's the best DB we've got. I told you guys, losing Surtain was going to be huge. Now will you all agree that getting that 2nd round pick was truly not worth seeing our secondary getting torn apart. I dont care if we would have lost him next season. Surtain was worth the franchise tag.
