i love this. and heres why.
as i said when we were all in the thread about danny being open for a part on the dolphins organization in some support role, many thought this was great that dannys presence would really be a spark to the team.
i wasnt as on board as everyone else. not that i didnt love danny or feel he would be good at the gig, its the fact that he is MOSTLY a huge spark to us old geezers. i would say a little over half of the folks who visit this board never saw dan play, many of those not even being born yet in his hayday. he is an nfl dinasour. and this is the state of the players. these are all young kids [and i am plenty old enough to call them kids] and they know the name, much like i did otto graham or bart star when i was pup. they know the name but they didnt see him play. pictures on the teams walls. they are not as inspired or look up to guys they know and admire, peyton manning, drew breese, marshall falk, tom brady, randy moss, brett farve, etc....., guys who are legends now or all pros or ones who they saw play in their twighlight years growing up and look up to them now.
now, JASON TAYLOR AND SAM MADDISON are a couple names they know and many actually saw play and younger fin fans have the jerseys. these guys, and i hope zach thomas will follow, are the ones we need to start incorporating back into the fold. these players have all eyes on them when they see them on the practice field or in the facilities hallways.
this is great! if sam maddison had 4.3 speed, hell, even 4.4 speed, he would have been a 1st or second ballot hall of famer. a houshold name for sure. i dont think there has ever been a cb who really was closer to 4.7 than 4.5 speed and play the position so well. he had uncanny ability to see angles and get to the ball and the player in position and on time. but, unfortunately, because his game was not built on speed, once he lost that first step as he aged, it effected him to much. but had he been a 4.3 speed guy to go with his angle and ball hawk abilities, WOWZA!!!!
JASON TAYLOR? hall of famer for sure and i doubt i have to explain him any further.
BRING 'EM ON!!!!!
