will quit football to pursue a carrer in baseball...on FOXSPORTS.com

didnt really like him to much for the fins but was a WR and a first round talent

That's a shame, he'd make a superb WR in the NFL. Hasn't he learned from the Drew Henson debacle?

He'll be back. His pitching isn't top notch by any means. Hes gonna regret this.

I could always tell his heart wasn't in it.

Yeah just read this on ESPN.com--can't argue with a guy taking $8 million guaranteed in a less demanding sport.

sad to see that we wont be able to see what kind of game he could of brought to the nfl even though i wasnt expecting nor wanting him in miami.....anyways congrats to him signing with the cubs and this will just be another one of those cases of a great athlete having to choose between one sport and the other, i have to tell you thats some life to have the ability to make a decesion like that

He'll pich for 2-3 yra make $8million get cut then since he wasn't drafted nail a sizeable free-agent deal.

The Cubs offered him an addition 7 Mil if he gave up the notion of trying to play in both the MLB and NFL. With a 99 mph fast ball and a 2.70 era in 9 games last year for the Cubs farm team, he has a future there.
He won't have to worry about some safety trying to knock his head off now.

dang that sucks he could have been the 1st white WR to be drafted in the 1st round

Actually, his stuff is pretty filthy. His fastball is in the high nineties and he has already had a ton of success in college and in single A. Don't forget, he was a fifth round pick by the Cubs, even when his baseball career was uncertain. If baseball is his true passion, then he made the right choice.

He doesn't have a 99 mph fastball, this was discussed on a ND board I am member of and he hit that figure on a jacked up gun, his opposing pitcher usually pitched in the high 80s and the gun had him in the mid 90s that day. He might can hit 99 mph if he overthrows but there are plenty of guys in baseball that can do that, the ball might not be a strike or might be straight as a line but it will be 99 mph.

Baseball was the safer pick for the immediate money but with baseball there is no guarantee he ever reaches the majors. A lot more talented and highly thought of guys than him have flamed out in the minors so we will have to see if he ever gets a 2nd contract in baseball.

I was going by what was said on ESPN yesterday. Maybe they got it wrong. I don't know. From what I saw he has the same problem that a lot of young pitchers have...control.
