Feeling nostalgic, the NFL tweeted highlights this week of Ricky Williams from 2002.
Two plays in particular jump out. The first, against the Detroit Lions, is a 37-yard run in which guard Jamie Nails transforms himself into a one-man convoy down the sideline, mowing down one defensive back a few yards downfield, then escorting Williams 15 yards farther downfield before another burial of a defender.

The other play, against the Chicago Bears, is much simpler. Williams takes a handoff and runs 63 yards up the middle for a touchdown. Untouched.

With that, it’s time to welcome Pat Flaherty to Miami. He’s the new Dolphins offensive line coach, a precarious and at-times infamous position in recent years. It’s also one still searching to attain results even remotely resembling what tackles Mark Dixon and Todd Wade, guards Toddy Perry and Nails and center Tim Ruddy accomplished in ’02.

R. Williams if he had his head on. could of been one of best rb in nfl history. He still rush for 10,000 yard.
Can you imagine if Ricky hadn't went on his sabbatical, Jamie Nails could've kept the frig door closed and Mark Dixon could've stayed healthy. We might have had one of the most dynamic running attacks in Dolphin history, only eclipsed by Zonk, Kiick, and Morris. But Should'ves, Could'ves, and Would'ves don't mean much.

Ricky did what was right for him by going on his sabbatical. Wanny was placing way too big of a load on him. No way he could have stayed healthy much longer at the pace he was being worked.

872 touches in two years is too much for any RB. Shame on you Wanny!

Speaking of Jamie Nails, does anyone have video of him vs. New England in the snow where his helmet breaks in half because of the cold? I've always wanted a clip of that.

Uh.... he failed a drug test and was about to be suspended for a year.

If Flaherty is the new OL Coach … he'd dang well better do a lot better than "hope" it's not the same old Dolphins offensive line!

At one point we were rumored to be getting Scarnecchia's understudy. I was rather excited about that prospect. I hope Flaherty gets this mishmash of injury-prone and inconsistent effort lugs into shape. By 2020, we're going to need a solid OL and run game to help out our 2020 rookie QB. We'll definitely draft OL (most likely 2 of them) to help the rebuild.

Here is what I posted on a Facebook group about the line. Give me your thoughts:

Let's talk about our o-line for a bit. Who remembers the last time we had a good one? It seems like it has been forever. We have changed players over and over again and it just hasn't worked. I believe at one point we had three first rounders on the line and it still sucked (Tunsil, James, Pouncey). Is it possible that o-line success is more related to coaching and schemes that who the players actually are. Since we supposedly bringing in a NE element to our offense, look at what they do. No big money nor high picks on the line. They seem to almost pick up scrubs who turn that line into one that can run or pass block at will. Is it the scheme? The coaching? How do they do it? Is it because they have a QB who can actually identify blitzers and change blocking assignments at the line of scrimmage?

Agree with you on both points, but one had nothing to do with the other. Ricky was .....well....Ricky before he came here.
