Same thing different year

Obviously your comments are sensible and logical. Fans want to emulate the success of the Giants, Packers, Patriots etc etc etc. What i thought was obvious by now is part of those teams success(secret) is not going crazy in FA. In addition, very few team that do go crazy in FA have short(see philly) and subsequently long term success.

Even with this established fact fans are extremely disappointed we didn't get most of the available FAs on the market instead of trusting the process. Obviously this FO and all its predecessors should have invested heavily in the Qb position drafting 1 or even 2 each season until that position was solidified. It seems to be the one position in football more so than any other that elimanates the need to be perfect or abvoe average in other position on the team( Didn't P.Manning make that very same 2-14 team competitive every season?) to win and sometimes big

Simple really....
so true, one thing we do see every year is teams that go crazy in free agency fail in the regular season. the Redskins and Eagles are good recent examples

If we had as much money as the Bucs had under the cap, blah blah blah........WAKE UP ALREADY!!! we don't have the money is because our GM is a buffoon who does not know how to manage a cap. We have marginal talent.....we have one perennial pro bowler on our roster.....we never seem to have cap space to make even one impact signing (Dansby seems like ions ago)....we don't know how and when or why to restructure contracts to free up space.......we just cut or trade the player without discussing a restructure. Tell me what we are waiting for with Jake and Dansby. Unless, we have been notified by their agents that they are not interested in signing an extension with us. There is no positive spin for the Dolphins current state of affairs.

They have to build this team through the draft. That will take a couple of years. You can't fix everything in one FA period.

I hate to make comments like this, but some dolfans need to relax. Give this new coach a chance to implement his system with his players. You can't just jump into free agency and pick up guys because of their names.

I loved B.Marshall, but he is not the kind of receiver that Philbin prefers (I'm just going on his previous drafts and receivers and the WCO ideal WR). You need fast, crisp disciplined route runners. Marshall is a beast, but his routes are not that great and he does drop a lot of passes. Could we have asked for more in return? sure, but after he allegedly punched another woman would you give up anything more than 2 third rounders???

As for that whole trade to Philly BS that was floating around here earlier, please. It is already bad enough with how much credence we give the biased, unreliable and agenda filled media, now we have fans listening to a guy who calls himself incarcerated bob. Seriously, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

That's funny. One playoff in 10 years and still trying. How do you expect a team to build thru the draft when they change coaches and systems every couple of years.

They wouldn't need to change coaches and systems every year if they'd choose the right coach in the first place. Should Sparano been given yet another chance after three losing seasons in a row? How about Cameron after 1-15 by the skin of his teeth? Saban and Wanny both quit. This team hasn't hired an even marginally successful coach since JJ/Wanny and they haven't hired a perennially winning coach since the first Nixon administration.

some people live a world where you click a button and walla! There is your star player!

No we didn't pick up someones back up Qb, we are looking towards the draft I would say that is about the opposite of the last decade.

Yeah well why is it that we don't have any money to sign any great players every season? Someone needs to answer to this crap. Denver had $40 million available under the cap. We haven't signed jack squat so far and now we only have $7 million available to sign 3-4 free agent scrubs in the bargain basement who will be special team roster fillers.

I guess you were playing Madden again and eanted to sell the farm on Manning, Overpay for Flynn, and set us back actually ANOTHER 10 years by being desperate?

No thanks, they've done fine.

Stop listening to the media that always love the splashy singings.

I actually agree. I think were in better shape then Jets and Bills to be honest. I've like what the've done. Your right the media is so blown up to make us always look bad. We will be fine. Manning would have been horrid signing (trent green 2.0) and Flynn was way to risky. Guy looks like (Kobb 2.0)

Its funny because MiamiDolphins.com has a huge press release on Ryan Tanahill, looks like they are showing extreme interest. Or thats what they want us to think. And I'm okay with giving him a chance, because you just never know, you never know.

I like the free agency moves they have made so far. Marshall was a good signing, imo, and I like the potential of Jamaal Westerman. That's a low risk, high reward signing. The real problem is that the roster continues to be so devoid of explosive playmaker types on both sides of the ball. That wasn't really going to be something solveable in free agency anyway. I completely get the frustration, as I share a lot of it myself. I think Ireland overall is a pretty good talent evaluator. I just disagree with his philosophies, as he seems stuck behind the times a bit, and he also appears to lack the balls to ever go out and make a bold move.

The media has no agenda against us, We have had three staright losing seasons and missed on Manning and Fynn two players we were favored at one time to get. Manning is not Trent Green although our cap is so bad it would have hurt us esp when we are not as good as some people want to believe. When you have had 4 losing seasons out of last five do you expect media to respect what your doing.

As long as we keep signing bargain basement players then we'll see a lot more of the 6-10 type seasons. The players we sign are NOT going to get us to the playoffs let alone the Superbowl. We have an entire team devoid of top talent. Who on our offense strikes fear in an opponent and keeps defensive coordinators up at night??!! Reggie Bush is the closest thing to that but he is NOT elite and may NEVER be able to stay healthy for an entire season. Other then Reggie we have nothing on offense. We have an offense with average QBs, average RBs (outside of Bush), average WRs (now that Marshall is gone), average TEs and an offensive line that is less then stellar (outside of Long and maybe Pouncey). On defense we have 1 passrusher (Wake) with nothing else at OLB, and question marks at safety and defensive end.

More like, "as long as we keep drafting **** then we'll see a lot more of the 6-10 type seasons." Free agency really isn't the problem, although signing guys like Justin Smiley and Jake Grove to large contracts was. The issue is that they never use any premium picks on explosive playmakers. I'm not gonna talk about guys like Ronnie Brown or Ted Ginn because they were picked by other coaches/GM's, but this regime has not picked a single impact playmaker type in either the 1st or 2nd round of any draft while they have been here. I do not count Daniel Thomas at all, as even at his full effectiveness he is not really the explosive big play type.

They desperately need not just speed, but functional speed. All Clyde Gates can do right now is run. He is far from a polished receiver, yet he is the closest thing to a dynamic offensive player the team has outside of Reggie Bush, who, call me crazy, I am still not really sold on either. They need 2 good WR's, a TE that can actually present a bit of a vertical threat, and a QB-at minimum. Dynamic playmakers command a ton of money when they hit the open market. Ireland has proven unwilling to really shell out for those types of players, imo.
