Sammy Says:

(On what’s made him so successful throughout his career in terms of making plays) –

“I think the bottom line is there’s one ball on the field. Sometimes a lot of people make the game too complicated. When the ball is up in the air, you have to say, ‘It is mine,’ and go after it. If you can catch you will get it, and if you can’t then you won’t. I just try to make the game simple – chase the guy with the ball and take it from him, and if the ball is in the air, go get it.â€Â

I also like this one from Wanny:

“There’s not a harder-hitting safety in the NFL. He does things you can’t coach.†Knight will compete with Arturo Freeman to start at strong safety."
Dolphins Head Coach Dave Wannstedt

"First of all, I would just like to thank the whole Dolphins organization for the way that they treated me. My trip here and meeting everybody was great. The first thing I noticed when I cam in was the great tradition – the Shulas, the Grieses, the Csonkas – and all of the guys that came before me. I just want to say that I respect the game and respect what they’ve done. I hope to accomplish some of the things that they were able to achieve earlier. It’s great to be here in Miami. I love the city and I love the players. Coming here, I just wanted a chance to compete, and was promised that here. I just welcome the opportunity to get to the Super Bowl.â€Â

-I am very sorry if this was already posted. It's not news or anything, but I thought it was a great read.

I listened to Knight's conference a few hours ago on Windows media player.... I can't wait to see him suit up and play!

Fu%king beautiful comments. I'm pumped.

Are you guys noticing the same things as me? Thompson, Buckley, Seau, and Knight all took less money. What did they all say in their conferences? That they came her for less to get more(in my words). Meaning they want to win a championship. Thompson picked us over Philly, TBuck picked us over New England, Seau picked us over about 65 other teams including Arena Leaguers, and now Knight picks us over the Pack. Those are good teams man. I think they realize what we are building here. I just pray that we can have a healthy lineup week 1. Right now, that's my biggest concern.

The only thing that irritates me is Wannstedt's comments at these press conferences. He always says its not anybody on our team that's playing badly(like Freeman, Rodgers) its just that we have the opportunity to acquire a player like Sammy Knight or Junior Seau. If this is the case, why didn't we go after David Boston, Kyle Turley, Takeo Spikes? I mean we didn't even bring them in to talk. I know it's about the money but the caliber of those players is a huge improvement.

Bringing in David Boston would of been crazy. The reality is, it would have never worked out. Chambers is working very hard and they are high on him turning into a blue-chip WR. We got Derrius Thompson on a 3yr/$3.6m contract. Though we are only in mini camp, he is playing like he deserved alot more. Kyle Turley is one thing I didn't get because of the 2nd round pick next year. That was a huge steal for the Rams. But that signing bonus was way too big for us. Takeo Spikes commanded too much mulla.

Also, remember when Boston/Spikes signed, Zach's contract wasn't restructured/extended yet. So we really didn't have the money to go and get a big name guy like one of them.

I'm happy with this offseason. I just wish Nate Burleson would of fell to us in round 3.. :D

I would have loved to land Turley also. I think he would have brought the kind of nasty attitude the OL has been missing. I love Dixon but he can get down on himself some times and when leaders do that it brings down everyones spirits. I think Kyle would have been a HUGE improvement. All that being said however I still think this has been one of the best off seasons in long while....well besides bringing in Ricky last year.
Now all we have to do is get over the late season slide. Maybe we could talk the league into having TWO superbowls every year. One in October and then the regular one. We would win the first one every year. I know its coming yet every year I still believe we are going to go undefeated through the month of Dec. only to have them rip my heart out.
Gotta lov em though

Excellent read CO84, I'm not one to look around at sites to find news so to be able to get the info. or news on just one site like this is great and very beneficial to all of us.. Good Job CO84

HOORAH:drinkeR:

The thing is that any of those so called big name signings would have ended FA right there and then. No Buckley, no Knight, no seau and no Zgonina and no Thompson. All their contracts add up to less then the high priced guys.
