So i was just watching some of the 2000 HR Derby in Atlanta, and boy that brings back memorys. Memorys when there was no steriod talk. Big Mac and Sammy Sosa used to wow everyone in the ball park, fan or not.

The 3 years of the HR derby in 1999(Boston) 2000(ATL) 2001(Brewers? i think). Those were some GREAT years in HR derby. I loved Big Mac, didnt like the Cards. I loved Sammy Sosa, hated the Cubs. But when they stepped up to the plate, it was so enjoyable as a fan. The show Sammy put on in ATL and again in Milwaukee was an absolute great show, almost magical.

yes that disrespected the game of baseball by cheating, and i definitly dont agree with their decisions, but in an era that baseball was near dead, they put it on their back and brought it back. So whats the point of the thread? who knows. But damn what a time in baseball...:boohoo:

I used to cherish that moment in sports too until.........a few years later

Sosa.

The 1999 All Star Game and HR Derby was one of my all time favorite All Star moments. It's too bad that it is not tainted but even watching the replays of the Derby and seeing Big Mac put those balls into the highway in Boston is still something great to see.

I don't care that players used steroids. Although I don't like that some fans only bring up Bonds name and forget that Sosa and McGwire were going to the plate with balloons for heads. I forgot the name of the book but I wanna say it is like Juicing the Game that goes behind the scenes of what Bud was actually trying to do in the era. It's not the Canseco book but I forgot the author. Although MoneyBall is still the best baseball book i've ever read.
