Richard Hodnett, FH Chronicles
February 11, 2007
Though the Front Office and coaching staff of the San Diego Chargers has been pillaged by the rest of the National Football League, with the loss of Coordinators Cam Cameron to the Dolphins and Wade Phillips to the Cowboys. Owner Alex Spanos decided that it was time to get young in the Front office with personel that will be here for years and will help reignite an already strong team to make it a championship contender. Enter new General Manager of Player personel Brent Antonio.
He was most noted for his defensive approach to the game and in the last two years helping to install Washington Redskin Coach Joe Gibb's Motion Shift Defense. From highschool he has been around the game of football and attending both Oakwood College and Alabama A&M University he held the title of Head Scout and in the last two years he served as Assistant GM in Washington-Most importantly he is known for working with a head coach to get the best product on the field.
"We are lightning and we will project a product on the field that best symbolises that effect. We will get faster on Offense,we will hit harder on defense and most importantly we will bring a championship to the west coast, and to the San Diego community. We will bring a system and players that this community will be proud of. That will win on the field and are winners in life." Antonio said at his introductary press conference.
"I am forever grateful to Mr Snyder for the opportunity I recieved in DC and I want to thank Mr. Spanos for giving me the oppertunity here and I will work with the coaching staff to ensure that we are hoisting the Lombardy trophy next year and down the road. We will ensure that the NFL fear the San Diago Chargers-not Ladanian Tomlinson and not Shawn Merriman-The Chargers."
