We have discussed the SD game a lot in the past and I don't think either one of us will budge on our opinions. I agree that the game changes if SD makes those FGs, but it doesn't change only in the favor of the Jets. SD would have been up 13-0 at the half and 13-3 late in the 3rd. You don't think SD plays that series out of their own endzone late in the 3rd (when Rivers threw that pick which gave the Jets the ball on the SD 16) a little different up 13-3 instead of it being a 1 possession game?
The Jets were leading by 4 at the half in the title game and ended up losing 30-17, so who cares if they were trailing by 5 in the regular season before Indy pulled all of their starters. The Jets scored 7 point off of Painter as soon as he came in. That never happens with Manning in the game. The rest is just excuses. The Colts were a far superior team, and in my opinion, the Jets had no chance to beat them in the regular season had the starters played the whole game.
The games against Bal in 05 and 07 have nothing to do with the 09 and 10 teams, but it just shows that the Ravens have had the Jets number. Sometimes those kind of things get in the players head. The 09 and 10 Jets are still 0-2 against them. I just think Bal is the better team and would favor them in any playoff matchup with the Jets. We will see where Flacco and Sanchez are in a few years.
How can you credit the Jets for advancing further than the Ravens when the Jets lost to the same teams in 09 and 10 as Bal did the week before?
The Jets faced 4 teams above .500 in 09 before facing Indy and Cincy (who had no desire to win) The 08 Dolphins faced 4 teams above .500. The difference is the Jets lost 6 of 7, and lost to a bunch of bad / mediocre teams. The Dolphins won their games against bad teams and went 11-5.
I have no response for you thinking 09 Cincy was close to 08 Bal. Cincy was a dead team walking. 09 Bal had a down year and Cincy sweeping them only shows that they matched up well with Bal. It doesn't mean that they were as good a team in 09 or even close to the 08 team.

I understand that it can get old when we debate about the same things over and over, but that is what the offseason is about right?When I get tired of it, I move on to another thread.
That's a big assumption that we don't score, if we are down 10-0 sense of urgency changes. Maybe we then score? maybe we press and turn it over and SD scores again? we don't know. To say 13-0 is not fair, the man missed s 57-58 yd attempt.
every game is different, in the title game up 4 the Jets lost multiple DBs and Shonn Greene who was GREAT that postseason.
The Colts were a far superior team but so was SD, just b/c they were superior doesn't mean the Jets couldn't beat them.
The last time GB beat the Jets was 1994 but they managed to beat us in 2010, we dominated that series. In the playoffs Sanchez and Flacco tranform to different QBs, I think we would have had a great shot to beat them. It would have been a toss up game not a blow out like vs. Miami.
In '09 the jets had a higher seed so they earned the right not to have to face Indy untilt he title game and they played them tougher than Bal did.
in '10 the Jets played the best team in the league in the div rd and beat them before playing Pitt as tough as Bal did the week before.
The Jets beat a playoff bound w/ a winning record in '09, Miami didn't. The winning record teams include the Jets who absolutely stunk late in the year when Miami beat them, the only playoff bound team Miami beat was 8-8 SD.
'09 Bal was as good as '08 Bal, the D may have been a little worse w/o Rex but overall they were as good, if not better thaks to the emergence of Ray Rice and Flacco being in year 2 and in that year Cincy SWEPT both them AND Pittsburgh.
