Recently released G/C Sean Mahan is scheduled to meet with the Raiders.

It's indictment of Samson Satele, who hasn't been able to beat out John Wade this summer. If Mahan signed with Oakland, he could end up starting later in the season.

I really thought Samson would be good for Oakland cause of their Zone Blocking, but it sure makes me feel good Miami released him. He probably will become a backup in this league or will have to be moved to G.

Grove has looked good for Miami and Sparano had some real nice things to say about him and said the guy is a true leader.

I am shocked that you thought he would do well in zone blocking. Satele missed 2 to 3 assignments per game for his entire career. That is a lot of mental lapses. Zone blocking requires more mental acuity than the scheme run by the Dolphins. I expected him to fail.

He's the best blocker in the league when it comes to blocking air.

I like playing "Air Guitar", Satele likes playing "Air Center".

Satele puts the "No" in "No Man's land".

He would pull great...but then get out there and not hit anyone!!! He would just watch defenders go by him to make the play...

my favorite was on the screens where he would be the first one out there and there would be 2 players to block and he would not hit either

note to self: don't draft centers from run-and-shoot teams

Exactly! It was like he was always looking for the "right" guy to hit...but not hit anyone. It made me nuts!! Just hit someone!!! I don't care who...just hit them...

Did anyone honestly expect him to succeed in Oakland of all places? It's where talented players go to die.

Bingo!!!

I live in Left-Coast Raiderland. I was reading their preseason blogs & they were all snarkey that they had upgraded to a young player with great potential vs. older & oft-injured Grove who they didn't think was all that good.

I watched the first Raiders preseason game & saw Satele pull-run-lead & play his Air-Block-Jig-Bobblehead as several defenders streamed by to make the tackle. He dances in-place with his head swiveling back & forth. Whiff!!:rimshot:

Raiders bloggers did NOT pick up on it & raved about his speed & quickness pulling/lead runs. I wondered how long it would take their "bulbs to brighten", but didn't want to pee on their bandwagon!! lol

im sorry but up to this point J. Grove has not impressed me at all, better than Satele, but thats not saying much.

Just 2 years ago this site was suggesting we draft more samoans and do the haka during pre-game. Ridiculous.
