Satele to Guard?

I'm no offensive line expert but I know I've read before that Samson Satele is a good enough blocker that he might eventually be moved to guard. Do you guys think this would be a good time to try it out, considering we have lost our stud LG and the RG spot has been a revolving door. Maybe Satele can go to LG and someone can fill in at center.

I say go for it for sure, but not this season.. even if he does well at it, I think it would do nothing but hurt us because then we could possibly have a center in there that plays horrible and just really the whole thing .. you know what screw it, im getting lost, but my point is, we should try it next year

on a side note i do agree with you. we should def try him out next preseason. right now the line is semi g-ling(spell check) next offseason we can start fresh.

I don't think he'll be cut or anything. I'd like to see him tried at right guard, as well. He could always be a valuable backup at the guards and center position if it doesn't pan out.

Bad time to change the center... The QB and center develop a chemistry that is hard to duplicate... Do any experimenting in the offseason since it is easier to rotate a blocker then find someone who can snap as well.

Al Johnson has been a starter at center just about his entire career since 2005.. on Dallas, and Arizona.

With all the things they're dealing with, the last thing they want to deal with now all the sudden is a new Center trying to figure out the line calls and get his chemistry down with the QB. Move Samson Satele and you allow the injury bug to spread to three different positions on the OL. Keep him where he is and the injuries only affect two positions.

I think we'll be ok with Ndukwe at RG and Alleman at LG. Obviously not long term answers but we do HAVE long term answers at those positions in Justin Smiley and Donald Thomas. In the off season, I would look for them to explore options at C and RT.

Do you think Alleman could push for the starting Center job? I know in the 07 draft there were several people thinking that the Dolphins were targeting him to fill the future C spot.

I would agree you can't move Satele now. I have a feeling they aren't satisfied with Satele at center. I don't see him dominating up front enough. Great lines have a dominating center. I think our OL is still a work in progress with RT a definite need since Carey will be gone and center an upgrade possibility.

His chance of getting better went out the window with Donald Thomas. Now he has to cover both for himself and RG. And after Sunday, now both RG and LG.

I would not make this move right now, but I would in the off season. Satele snaps yeserday were horrible, including two in a row that were about five inches off of the ground.
