IMO, the satele trade leaves us with a hole in our offensive line. We have starters with health issues so we need to back us up with some young flesh.

Anyone has reports of the dolphins working out centers/guards so far ? This draft class is so good/deep , it's unbearable to think they won't select one anywhere after the 1st round

i'm pretty sure we'll be picking up a G/C or 2 throughout the draft...

antoine caldwell intrigues me, being that he ran pro sets formations a whole lot and they ran the ball often/effectively at alabama , which is something we're looking to do

luigs from arkansas could be a possibility, our quarterback coach is familiar with him but it may be irrelevant... still, this coach convinced us to you the wildcat, so you never know

they both would be interesting options with the 2b or 3rd

yeah, bama ran the ball real well from what i saw,so i wouldn't mind him either...

three guys Im interested in as far as centers go are Wood, Caldwell and Luigs, in that order.

Wood and Caldwell can both serve as backups to the center and guard position. I am not sure Luigs can play guard.

I don't get that trade at all. You gave up a two year starter, a guy who is signed cheaply for two more years and most importantly a guy who is probably pretty ticked off his job was handed to someone else. For this you get a sixth and a swap which you are just going to have to draft a replacement!

Scheme fit or not it smells like making a move just for the sake of making a move.

So you would prefer the FO fit a square peg in a round whole? How far does that get you before your frustration takes over?

You may not like the value we got for him but the bottom line is we now have a Center that fits our offense.

Square peg in a round (whole), is a bit of a stretch. It is not like he was a horrible player who had no place to play and besides he would be cheap depth at 2 positions and with injury history of the middle of our line I would have taken that fit.

I hope you are right because all Grove has proven so far is that he is barely starting material.

Satele sucks, so what is the point in keeping him? Did you see him vs Wilffork? Its not so much that he couldn't get any push at all, but it really looked like he wasn't even trying too...bye bye.

So you are going to bring up one game, late in the year and ignore the fact he was injured and played through it against one of the best NT's in the game. We should probably not consider the first game when he pushed Wilfork all over the field so much so that I believe Wilfork said he was "embarrassed" (more by the defensive effort but you get the point).

He never "sucked", was he ideal, no he was drafted by a different regime for a different scheme but my point was he was a cheap valuable reserve. Wait until we see Berger in there if/when Grove gets hurt to determine who really "sucked".

With the signing of Grove, I don't think you'll see the Trifecta go after the Top Five C's in this upcoming draft. However, they may draft a lesser known guy like Edwin Williams or Dan Gerberry.

On the surface I agree with you Satele is the better player than Grove if for nothing else he played 2 full seasons. He was tough and reliable. Grove on the other hand smells much like the Smily signing last year perhaps talented and definitly injury prone. Regardless of the talent its not worth 2 cents if it spending time on IR on the bench. Most fans who argue against the Satele trade can see this and the ones who support it bascially support Bill Parcells decision regardless. Still the one thing that could be coming into play here is that Satele agent this morning spoke about how bad his shoulder injury was last year so giving BIll P and CO their due perhaps it is the sort of injury that a player does not bounce back from and in their frame of mind they got oaklands injured center plus a a draft pick etc for our injured center. Take also into consideration that some teams like quicker mobile linemen like the Broncos more than the road graders that Bill P are trying to aquire and whom they think they aquired with Gorve and you have a deal. All reports out of Oakland so far is that Grove is no raod grader though so we shall see.

According to Boomer these are the O-line players the Dolphins have had either interviews or worked out;

OT: Ole Miss senior Michael Oher; Jamon Meredith of South Carolina; Arizona’s Eben Britton; Cornelius Lewis of Tennessee St; Ball State’s OT Andre Ramsey; Yale’s Darius Dale; Lydon Murtha and Matt Slausen (Nebraska); Phil Loadholt of Oklahoma; Dane Randolph of Maryland.

OG: Auburn’s Tyronne Green; Oregon State guard Andy Levitre (x2); LSU’s Herman Johnson; Missouri Western’s Roger Allen; Duke Robinson of Oklahoma; Louis Vasquez of Texas Tech.

OC: Alex Mack of Cal; Arkansas senior Jonathan Luigs; Juan Garcia of Washington; Max Unger of Oregon

I was disappointed with the satele trade also. I do think we need someone from the draft to add to our depth. I think it is possible Sparano may be looking at Unger trading down in the 1st or hoping he slides to our 2a pick. He is a versitile lineman with good fundimentals. He can also provide depth at OT something Satele could not do.
