he is a team player and handles all the boos and controversy with class... as much as im glad AJ will get a shot to lead the offense next week, i admire Jay's attitude. here is Jay's quote from the article:

"As I've always done in my five years here, I'm ready to contribute to the team's success in any way I can," Fiedler said in a statement released by the club. "Everyone wants to start, but if I don't, I'll do everything I can to help A.J. and to be as prepared as possible in case I do play."

also, for what it is worth i watched most of the Jets/Bengals game today (Pennington is my fantasy QB), and Cincinnati's pass defense got torched today in the first half. the Jets also moved the ball well in the air in the second half, but were content to let Curtis Martin do the work for most of the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Go Fins, beat the Bengals...

jay is a classy guy with a ton of heart i respect him alot but i want him to hold the clipboard and not ever see the field for this team unless there is a major injury. his time here should be done 4 years of "knowing the offense" and he was terrible. passer rating of 8 enough is enough time to move on i wish jay luck after this year where ever he ends up.

The thing that bothers me about Jay is he thinks he's better then he is and thats not good for the team, he needs to play backup and offer AJ as much help by his knowledge and experience that would be best for this team. The problem like I said is Jay thinks he's a starting QB but he's not. Part of the delusion could be his record thanks to the D not Jay.

yeah but its shame he gets so much stick. He puts up with it and does his best. Hopefully he'll help Feeley to progress and he'll be solid back up.

I'm tired of Jay Fiedler on the field, I'm tired of Jay Fiedler supporters, and I am tired of hearing how great a guy Jay Fiedler is.

Being a great guy gets you nowhere in the world. Congrats on Jay or being "great". However, he is not even a "good" QB....so it's time to put him on the sideline and give him the treatment any other backup QB gets which is....NONE!! I vote for him disappearing until he is called upon due to any injury that may happen. ;)

Jay is a class act on and off the field period and I have confidence he can come off the bench to win us games but that is it. I like the guy alot but it is time for change and let AJ play out the year, get used to it, wait for Dave to be fired and get a coach with an offensive mind, and get Boston, Booker, and Chambers on the field together next year. Could be really special.

To me, Jay is like "Rudy" Ruttinger in the movie. He's determined, has tons of heart, plays through pain, but has almost no real talent. Like Rudy, you have to admire Jay for those good qualities... but also like Rudy, Jay has no place on the field unless its during practice or if his team is so far ahead that only the backups are playing.

Yes, he's a classy guy and I admire him for that but as our starter, no I'd rather have him as a backup.

as much as he sucks... you have to have something to make up for the lack of talent. aj was perfect in his interview after jay was named the starter but you could sense in him a bit of let down, though he maintained class. i'd rather have aj hands down.

You know what? I think Miami has done better than the other teams that have tried to replace their big time QB.
Look at this and tell me what you think
Dallas, Troy Aikman
Denver, John Elway
What's going to happen to Green Bay when Brett Farve(sp) retires?

I think we've been lucky to have Jay come in and do what he's done. Maybe we've been spoiled by what Marino did for us. It's hard to find these type of QB's.
Dallas has never recovered, Denver is just now starting to recover, Green Bay thaough they had their man (Couch), what's GB going to do ?

I do belive that it's time to move on w/o Jay, but I would take him as a back up for this year. I'am not sure what his contract is worth, so I can't comment on 05.

I hope you're only counting the QB's who came EXACTLY after Marino, Aikman, and Elway. If not, you're 100% wrong about Denver.

Jay is a nice guy.........big friggin deal. Who cares.

Nobody has ever said he isn't a good person. He just sucks at quarterback. Why can't some people seperate the person from the player. It amazes me.

What I'am saying is that we, Dallas, Denver, soon GB, have had a hard time filling the shoes of the stud QB. Dallas has been through what? 5-6 QB's since Aikman, Denver with Griese for 3 yrs. These teams have struggled badly since Aikman and Elway retired. The Dolphins have done better with Jay than those teams. That's what I'am saying. Jay has gotten this team in the playoffs twice. Dallas is still looking for a QB. Green Bay will be in the same boat. I'am NOT saying Jay is the answer, he's had had the chance, and now it's time to move on w/o him. We as Dolphins fans has been spoiled by Marino, and we all know it takes more than one guy to win or lose.

That, is a nice, sanitized comment by Jay to help with the PR spin. Jay's real feelings were revealed by the comments he made right after the game, in the locker room interview. Jay still thinks he can start. He won't be happy to be #2 and unless Wanny survives this year somehow, Jay will be gone after this season given the money he is due next year. He is making WAY TOO MUCH this season actually, for a #2 QB. We need to keep him as insurance in case Feeley slumps or gets hurt, but if Jay whines after a loss about how he could have brought the team back for a win... then he needs to be cut loose.

A trade to the Cowboys might be an option, for a fourth round pick or so. We could get Griese from the Bucs in an emergency, or in the event Jay is shown the door early. Actually, I'd rather give Sage a shot at that point, but we can hope Jay is a good boy and keeps his mouth shut.
