say what you will about Jay but...

I'm not ready to call Jay a team player. Why didn't I see Jay say one thing to AJ during the second half? No guidance, no encouragement, nothing.

ok, try and think of it in these terms. i have read numerous accounts of Jay being popular among the offensive starters and the team in general. if he was not the good character guy he is, imagine how much of a locker room cancer he could be... does anyone think the team would benefit from him openly questioning things, or screaming at coaches on the sidelines a la Terrelle Owens? again, im glad Feeley is going to get his shot, ive wanted it for some time, but i also think Jay provides one of the better backup QBs in the league if not the best.

he is a team player and handles all the boos and controversy with class... as much as im glad AJ will get a shot to lead the offense next week, i admire Jay's attitude. here is Jay's quote from the article:

"As I've always done in my five years here, I'm ready to contribute to the team's success in any way I can," Fiedler said in a statement released by the club. "Everyone wants to start, but if I don't, I'll do everything I can to help A.J. and to be as prepared as possible in case I do play."

also, for what it is worth i watched most of the Jets/Bengals game today (Pennington is my fantasy QB), and Cincinnati's pass defense got torched today in the first half. the Jets also moved the ball well in the air in the second half, but were content to let Curtis Martin do the work for most of the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Go Fins, beat the Bengals...
too bad class doesnt win football games

Jay Fiedler simply sucks.
He has not done anything in Miami to separate himself from mediocre journeymen QBs that you rarely remember. Ask fans of other teams what they thought about Jay a year after he leaves football and I guarantee you the majority will answer "Jay WHO??".

I always hoped he would get better...but as the years go by, you have to cut bait with those that never improve. He has been a mainstay here for far too long.

Class only gets you so far, and unfortunately its what got Jay Fiedler extra years as quarterback. I'm a classy guy, so does that mean I should be a starting quarterback in the NFL? No, it doesn't. Jay Fiedler is a team player and deserves respect for that, but his talent to succeed is very limited, and he's more of a game manager than a game winner. Skill is just as important as class, and I think AJ Feeley has both, as well as a hunger to win.

He won't be happy to be #2

Thank you for your expert opinion, Mr. Jay Fiedler expert.

if Jay whines after a loss about how he could have brought the team back for a win... then he needs to be cut loose.

I agree with you here, but Jay deserves the BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT. I don't think it is acceptable in any way to characterize him as a malcontent unless he actually ACTS LIKE A MALCONTENT.

Being a great guy gets you nowhere in the world. Congrats on Jay or being "great". However, he is not even a "good" QB....so it's time to put him on the sideline and give him the treatment any other backup QB gets which is....NONE!! I vote for him disappearing until he is called upon due to any injury that may happen. ;)

My sediments exactly!!! Go Harford Community College!!

By all means, let's call Wayne up and let him know you're tired of Jay because your opinion is what should control the policy of the Miami Dolphins. (am I the only one who uses this smily?)

i agree with that assessment entirely... in the right environment that type of QB can go the distance and end up with a super bowl ring (think Trent Dilfer). but Miami Dolphins are short a few pieces of the puzzle to not make a change at this point. Feeley has upside, to an (as yet) undetermined degree. what Fiedler brings to the table is a known commodity.

The best help Jay can give AJ is to leave him alone!

If Jay were Rob Johnson (he of many bad habits), I would agree with you. Jay doesn't really have bad habits, though -- he just doesn't have the arm I would like to think we all wished he had. Further, he has coaching experience and has the type of struggling player background that makes the best type of player-coaches. If Jay feels he can contribute to AJ's success by serving as a mentor of sorts to him, I certainly hope that he is able to do so.

I like Jay as a person and leader, and even his skills which are decent, but he makes too many mistakes for a veteran and supposed starter caliber QB. And having completed 3 years as a starter he has not improved a lick in three seasons. That is my biggest problem. He hasn't learned to eliminate the big mistakes.

The Jay Fiedler and/or Dave Wannsteadt piss-fest threads just keep coming. People just love to *****, insult, reprimand, and condemn people whether its Fiedler, Wayne, Rick or anyone else. People rather build upon the negative instead of moving on and building upon the positive for next week.

The thing that bothers me about Jay is he thinks he's better then he is and thats not good for the team, he needs to play backup and offer AJ as much help by his knowledge and experience that would be best for this team. The problem like I said is Jay thinks he's a starting QB but he's not. Part of the delusion could be his record thanks to the D not Jay.
- Coaches are there for a reason. I like Jay and he has heart. He just isn't an never was a starting NFL QB. A good backup.

- Again , it's the Coach.

When your a guy with limited ability and lucky to be playing in the NFL You have no choice but to be a team player with a i'll do what ever is needed attitude. If he wasn't that way he would be doing somthing other than playing in the NFL.
