Here are some of my thoughts. I'm at work, so I can't post them all.

This team lacks fire on either side of the ball. They lack personality. Everything is “business”. They are stoic, bored, going through the motions. There is no urgency about anything at all.
Instead of being an aggressive team, it seems to be more about trying to out-think their opponents instead of out playing them. The defense is too complicated, which also means too much thinking and not enough reacting, let alone being PRO active. Miami never seems to pick up plays before they happen or attack a particular area of weakness.
Our front four is covering for a lot of the deficiencies in our LB corp and our DBs. YES, Zach is showing age, Spragan isn’t good, and Crowder is still learning. Our defensive backs are just bad as a group. Our scheme doesn’t match our players abilities which is a coaching issue. Good coaches adapt their schemes to their player’s abilities, get the right personnel for their system, or find themselves looking for employment. Something has to get done. This team has no character, they aren’t having fun, and they are unprepared game after game. It’s very frustrating as a fan because the problems seem very obvious, just as a lot of these problems were obvious during the off season, yet little or nothing was done. Our offensive line consists of nothing but a bunch of oversized cast offs who lack any semblance of athletic ability. Too much confidence was put into one man (Houck) to be able to mold this group of scrubs into even and average offensive line. I have never seen anyone make chicken salad out of chicken ****. To make chicken salad, you have to at least start with some eggs.
Our QB situation is questionable for more than one reason. Everyone probably knows that I think Culpepper is part of the problem right now and not even close to part of the solution. His confidence is shaken. He is very hesitant and he fails to attempt to take what the defense is giving him, instead opting to take the easy, underneath stuff for fear of making a mistake. I won’t make this a bench Culpepper thread, because that’s not what it’s about. It’s not that I WANT Culpepper benched, it’s just that I want him to make plays that are there. But he is not. If he can’t do it, a decision has to be made that may give our offense a little spark and that may also light a fire under Pep, who is too comfortable with a job that he technically didn’t have to WIN. That’s all I’ll say about that.
Overall, this team just needs to be better prepared. Our o-line is not going to go out and physically BEAT anyone, so we need to scheme better to try to open some lanes, double team who we need to double team, and exploit mismatches as often as we can. We have had opportunities for big plays and we’ve left ALL of them on the field. In the NFL, you have to take advantage of every chance you get. We aren’t doing it. Our offense is averaging less than 13 points per game. That is unacceptable. Even with a bad o-line. We’ve had worse than this and done much better with a lot less talent in skill positions.

I think Saban's defensive schemes are too damn complicated and the players are spending too much time thinking instead of just playing.

Posting from work... Shame on you  I agree though, the teams heart just isnt in the game.

Good post, we definitely lack fire. And Houck is NOT the coach I thought he was, or the "talent" he has at OL is just "no-talent".

Amen man, its really bad right now and I agree with you wholeheartedly, as a matter of fact I beleive I posted a similar thought after we lost to Buffalo.

No freakin emotion, I understand the concept of controlling emotions and focusing on doing individual jobs, but this is pathetic.

I would disagree, maybe right now our secondary is not good, but mark my words by the end of the year they will be our strength, our linebackers DON'T FIT THE CAPERS/SABAN system, and if Zach can't cover and can't blitz he needs to be on the sideline on 3rd down or obvious passing situtatiions.

No shame for Zach, he has been a warrior for this team, but we need someone that's a little more athletic, perhaps Crowder?

As for CPeP, I think it was at the 5:38 minute mark in the 3rd Quarter, when he had a 3 and 4 I saw 2 open receivers that could have gotten us a 1st down, instead he throws long and incomplete.

TAKE WHAT THE DEFENSE GIVES YOU DAUNTE, these wr's have shown that if you get them the ball in open space they can make people miss.

I don't beleive that Saban should come under fire cause as I have posted over the past night and today, this team was way overrated, and we still need a year to bring in the right people to fit the system we are running.

Just MY opinion.

Ya know the lack of emotion started in the Buffalo game. I saw fire and emotion opening night but nothing since then. Its like they cannot rebound from what happened in the fourth quarter at Pittsburgh. An indicator of a mentally weak team.

I thought I would never see this out of a Saban led team. His LSU and Michigan State teams, especially the defenses, played with a lot of fire, emotion, and confidence. Last year this fan here so a lot of emotion at the end of the season. The most memorable were the comeback vs. the Bills and the second Pats game.

There is something wrong and it may be the team lacks confidence in the coordinators. Mularkey is already on my s*((& list so it would be easy to convince me that C-Pep and company just think his schemes and philosophy are lousy and they are just going to go through the motions with little confidence in success. And, this team has played DOWN to the competition. We lose opening night vs. defending champs, a game which we were in until the end of the 4th quarter, and since we played mediocre to poor vs mediocre opposition. Something is definitely missing. Fortunately this is only week 4 with 12 left to play.

There is 12 left to play and if we go 8-4 we still finish 9-7. And 8-4 it's hard to imagine this team going 8-4 to finish. It would be amazing and even if we do, no playoffs again.

At the rate we are going 9-7 would be quit an accomplishment and turn around - like last year. But, yeah in the AFC no one is going to the playoffs at 9-7 unless there is a meltdown with more than one team. That means we would have to be even more incredible and go at least 9-3. Not likely at all but we can still hold out for hope. Just another stepping stone till next year-AGAIN. Because anything can happen is why we as fans can only support the team let the chips fall where they do. Sad but true.....
