Week 1 - 22/36, 229 YDS 2 TD - Matt Ryan

Week 2 - 14/23, 303 YDS 2 TD - Peyton Manning

Week 3 - 18/33, 303 YDS 0 TD - Phillip Rivers

Week 4 - 14/26, 192 YDS 1 TD 3 INT - Trent Edwards

Week 5 - 12/24, 172 YDS 1 TD - Mark Sanchez

Week 6 - BYE

Week 7 - 22/38, 298 YDS, 1 TD 3 Int - Drew Brees

Week 8 - 20/35, 265 YDS, 2 TD - Mark Sanchez

Opposing Quarterbacks of any type of quality are finding success against our secondary. With the exception of Trent Edward's horrible game, and Rookie Sanchez's pedestrian showing in week 5, most opposing Quarterbacks have had their way with us.

In weeks 1-3, each Quarterback preformed admirably, not committing any turnovers and moving the ball effectively and we subsequently lost each of those first three games.

Weeks 4-5, We rattle Trent Edward's cage and he throws 3 Interceptions and is held under 200 yards. We roll 38-10. Week 5, Sanchez has a solid game, but not a stellar game by any means, but he does do a good job of avoiding turnovers and managing the game a little. We win in dramatic fashion with thanks to a great offensive showing from the Wildcat.

Going into the Saints game there was a fair amount of optimism that we may actually be able to pull off the upset. We come out with fire, we pressure Brees, he makes mistakes, and throws Interceptions. Were up 24-3 at one point. What happened next is either Brees being Brees or a defensive meltdown as he goes on to throw for over 300 yards, moving the ball at will. We lose.

This last game, after coming off a heartbreaking loss to NO at home, I thought we would come out with some fire.... however, we came out flatter than Publix brand coke. We showed nothing on offense, nothing on defense, and allow Sanchez to go up and down the field on us in the second half for 3 consecutive scores. If not for Jason Taylor being Jason Taylor and Tedd Ginn doing something that has only been done 7 times in the history of the NFL, then we lose, and people on this board are alot more apocalyptic.

------------

So this sunday we face Tom Brady. Who's currently 5th in the league in passing yardage, and based on our former games, we may be in trouble.

So how do we stop Brady? Hopefully Jason Taylor still enjoys making Tom Brady look like a school yard *****, and we're able to apply some pressure to interupt his timing and rhythem... because you don't want Tom Brady in rhythem.

More importantly, we need to get the Wildcat back in full force. We need to control the clock like we did in the Colts game if we hope to have a shot at this game.

But above all we need to not shoot our selves in the foot. We need to avoid turnovers, not have a case of the dropsies, avoid silly penalties, and do all the little things that made the 08' Dolphins 11-5... and hope a couple plays go our way.

** side note unrelated to this.. but when I was watching the Jets game.. and Tedd had just went 100 yards for his first KO return.. when they were getting ready to kick off again I wondered to myself.. "Is Rex Ryan's ****y *** gonna kick to him again?" - answer - yes .. I was really hoping Tedd Ginn would've gotten 3 returns.. maybe it would've softened Ryan's ego, likely causing a rift in the space time continuum.. that type of bravado will come back and bite you in the *** in the NFL.. there's a reason why alot of these coaches are conservative..

until the rookies we have at corner grow up and start making contributions with interceptions and make people game plan for them, it will be up to the defensive line. they have to figure out how to get pressure, period. you can't expect sean smith to cover randy moss all the way down the field every play. brady needs to feel people around him and make him throw it under duress.

The secondary always seen to be in place to make the play, but again and again got out-fighted by WRs....
Thats frustrating.

Secondary? I'm worried about our pass rush...Where is it???

Everyone is forgetting the D-line play, the front 4 GETS NO PRESSURE AT ALL ON THE QB, that and Wilson has been atrocious...

I would bet my my left nut that our D would be 100% better with a good DC. I think we have a lot of talent in the secondary and everywhere on our D - save for ILB. If we had a - say - Mike Nolan, our players are in positions to excel. Most of the plays we're giving up to TE's are schematic mistakes. No Safety in the league can cover a good receiving TE in Man-to-Man coverage when giving the TE a 20 yard running start - coupled with no pressure on the QB. It's a joke.

In reality there tight end had twice the number of receptions as any other player on there team, also led there team in reception yardage and scored a td...so it's more like we continue to get raped by opposing tight ends

It's because our ILB's are a BIG liability. They can't step up and fill holes so teams can right right up the middle on us and have success if they can get past the DLine. Our LB's cannot cover period - we don't have the speed there. And we don't get safety help - Wilson cannot cover and Bell is avg - will make the tackle but doesn't come up with int's ever in pass coverage. The #1 or #1a goals have to be ILB and WR. After seeing how many teams are killing with their TE's deep down the middle we need to be able to stop it!

Drew Brees did not have good games against us.

The reason I left Brees as having a good game is that one of his interceptions was a tipped ball and the other was a tremendous strip by Nate Jones, both not necessarily his fault. Also he did have over 300 yards... and like two rushing touchdowns..

Well yea, like I highlighted in the Saints review when the D-line was getting pressure in the first half, Drew Brees was making mistakes and we weren't giving him time in the pocket. This lead to interceptions and deflections, and alot of three-and-outs as well.

But for whatever reason or another the rush was ineffective in the second half, whether that be from better adjustments in play calling by the Saints and a failure of us to keep up, giving Brees an aple amount of time in the pocket to pick apart out secondary with weak safety pass coverage play. Along with missed tackles and the painful image of Jeremy Shockey ROCKING Gibril Wilson 35 yards down the field.

The rookies are doing well. They making impact plays each and every game.

Our D collapses in the 2nd half. We kept NO, Indy, NY, ect. in close games in the first half. However in the 2nd half, PP stops blitzing, Henning stops calling plays, and we collapse. Our safeties are bad (I like Clemons), but why are we covering WR's and TE's with LB's who can't cover?
