On NFLTA, Adam Schefter reported to start the show, that the Giants and Fins talked about JT for Shockey, but the deal couldn't get done.... Would uoi have prefered that, instead of the Skins deal? Shockey is an established player, but he seems like a distraction.... Tough call.

No thanks on Shockey. When trying to rebuild a franchise from the ground-up, I can do without a loud-mouthed, over-hyped, underproducing tight end.

Say what you will about a Chad Johnson or a T.O., but at least you get great production with all of the talk.

With Chad or Jeremy you get a loud mouthed malcontent.. Don't think for a second Parcells doesn't know how to deal with guys like that IE: Owens, LT, Keyshawn..

I wouldn't have minded.. the only thing that bothers me about Shockey is that he is so fragile.

I hear JS is a real crowd pleaser, a fun quote, an all time Hurricanes great... and certainly a terrific blocking TE; however, if his hectoring, yelling for the ball and such made a 4th year Eli nervous on the field, imagine his effect on John and Chad- not to mention how he'd make BP's head explode . Terrific player but better suited for Brees, Payton and crew.

I prefer the trade that happened. I am intrigued by Anthony Fasano, even though Shockey would have been an instant upgrade. He is too much of a headache player for my taste.

We got a very good deal in the one with the Redskins. The best offer we were getting was a third round pick and most teams seemed to think Jason wasn't worth more then a 4th round pick. In fact, one team executive told a media outlet he would never trade anything higher then a 4th for him because of the trouble he was causing(not showing up for workouts and doing DWTS without really talking to the team first) and that he is going to be 34 when the season starts.

A 2nd round pick and a 6th round pick is a steal for Jason Taylor. His best days, and likely Pro Bowl days are behind him and he really has Hollywood on his radar more then football. He will probably play two seasons, MAYBE three for the Redskins. Thank God, Parcells/Ireland didn't settle for a 3rd or 4th round pick and waited for a team to get desperate. There is no way to argue it, Washington got desperate, and that is why he is there and Miami made out like bandits.

Thank you for the great 11 years here Jason, can't wait to see you inducted into the HOF(As a DOLPHIN of course) and staring in TV shows and movies(which will likely come sooner rather then later.)

The above sums up my thoughts probably better than I could have.

This sums up my thoughts on the plausible JT trades and the one that happened:

JT for 2/6 - nice!
JT for Lito - not bad
JT for Favre - ehhhh
JT for Shockey - blech

Watch Shockey have a pro bowl year with the Saints. That would be just our luck!
I still like the deal with the Redskins.
