Schefter: Manning could be a free agent by next Tuesday

That's exactly what I was thinking. Like if he wasn't ready now but next year he was at full strength. So yeah I'll still do it. We waited this long what's another year

So you would wait another year? Keeping this HC from implenting his offense? A Peyton Manning offense and a GB style offense are 2 totally different things here. Then you have to pay the guy the money he will command. Causing this team to lose depth? Did you people not see what happened this year in INDY? They built that whole team around Peyton. And when he wasn't able to play, you seen what happened. Why would you expect a NEW HC to hitch his fortunes to a QB who by your thinking, would be 37, and wouldn't have played in 2 years?

Do you even think about the complete crap storm this team would be? We will be back looking for a 'franchise' QB and new HC in 3 years something like this goes down.

Minnesota(Farve) 2.0 if MIA invests in Manning. Short window, no long term gain.

Signing Manning to health incentive's laden contract is exactly what any prudent team should do. It also mean that Miami is on the trade down clock, IMO.

The only problem with that is then we bypass guys like Flynn, RG3, etc, and then when the season rolls around Manning might not be able to play anyway. I would rather go after Flynn if Philbin believes in him. At least we know he'll be playing next season

At a low risk I would take a gamble on him. Is he my first choice? No, Second? Not even so sure but at a 1 or 2 million a year why the heck not. We've wasted more money and time on other players, Peyton's track alone deserves him at the minimum a shot at making the roster. I think a depth chart of Peyton, Moore, Rookie and Devlin would suffice going into next year. If anything Peyton could inspire a Devlin or a Tannenhill to come out of the shadows and perform like a Matt Flynn does.

I would be absolutely stunned if Peyton could be had for that little. We will probably only sign him if the doctors believe he is healthy enough to play; and if they do decide that, then every other team with a QB problem will go after him too. His price is probably already high even without the bidding war that will ensue.
