Schefter:Manning & Irsay working on deal to keep peyton in Indy

So what's Plan B? Drew Brees??? Ohhhhh wait, nevermind....we wanted Culpooper instead of that guy,....5 years ago.

It is actually the perfect scenerio. We should have been grooming when Marino was still around.

It really isn't the perfect scenerio when you have a QB sitting on the bench that should be starting from day one.

Andrew Luck and his family will be PISSED if Manning came back.

Biggest winners St.Louis, Let the betting wars continue for the #2 pick!

Miami always gets left holding the bag, and watching it get filled with a whole lot of crap, while everyone else gets the good stuff. Peyton Manning will stay in Indy, Matt Flynn will sign with the Skins, and RG3 will go to Cleveland, as they move up from #4 to #2. Good things never happen to the Phins.....but we do have coaches who are great at doing a fist pump on successful field goals.

Agree that the colts are going not going to be contenders until after manning is done as a franchise qb. WHy would he waste his remaining years rebuilding? Secondly along that note, if they keep manning it makes more sense to trade the number one pick for multiple picks to increase the speed of the rebuild which the colts wont do. Seems to be a reach to me...of course I am not the gm or manning so who knows.lol

Given that franchise Qb's are such a rare thing. The worst thing you can do as a GM is trade even for a bounty a prospect like Luck!

If Manning does not pan out, turn your attention to Matt Flynn. Things are fine.

Hey Manning, we'd like to keep you around for a smaller fee.
Manning - i would love to end my career here as well, we should start talking see where it ends up.
I agree Peyton, lets get something going see where it ends up.

THAT is considered positive dialogue until they say we will offer you 10 mill less and they say "talks broke down unfortunately"

The thread title is a tad bit off, I just watched the video again (sorry no link, watched on ESPN app on iPad) but Schefter was clear that no negotiations have taken place they just have remained in contact. Schefter was asked if its likely he stays in Indy & he said its unlikely but possible.

I like Scefter but just more guessing they have no idea.
