Schefter on Ricky/Denver

I want us to trade Ricky....but it says Denver wont parts with a 1st day pick. Its says for a conditional 2nd day pick. No thanks. We need a 3rd for Ricky.

I think if it was a conditional 3rd/2nd... I would be fine with it. Because, in all likelyhood... behind the Broncos o-line, it would probably escalate up to a 1st...

agree. why would they even say soemthing lke that? makes no sense. 2nd day pick? c'mon now. hell no.

To date, no trade conversations have occurred, other than the possibility of them in Broncos headquarters. If a trade does occur, it likely would be for a conditional second-day pick. Even though Denver will have two first-round picks and potentially two third-round picks, it would not part with a first-day pick for Williams.

If this is true than theres no way Saban would trade Ricky. This is the same team that drafted Clarrett in the 3rd rd and they won't give up at least the same for Ricky? Forget about it.

Hey I'm one of Ricky's more outspoken critics, but come on, a second day pick? No thanks! I don't like the guy for what he did to his TEAMMATES but a 4th or 5th round pick for a guy with his skills is a joke! I think he's a ticking timebomb and we should get what we can for him before he blows but I would stand pat for a minimum of Denver's 3rd rd pick if not both of their 3rds.

In this league ur starting running back will be hurt. he will have to sit out games. Why on gods green earth would you give up a proven and cheap running back for a draft pick. What happens when Ronnie brow goes down again next year and we are chasing for a playoff spot. Who is going to fill in for him....TRAVIS MINOR?

Having 2 really good backs is a GOOD THING. why go back to 1 good back and if he goes down we're screwed playing tactics. We need a LINE BEFORE WE DRAFT A QB.

You started out great with the RB talk...and then fizzled out with the o-line talk. If Saban sees a QB that he likes he'll get em...PERIOD. I agree totally with keeping Ricky...especially with the peanuts he's going to be making next year but we need to fix the QB problem...regardless he wont start next year so well have 2 f/a periods and another draft to get some linemen...so relax...without a doubt the QB is our most pressing need.

wonderful, can't wait to read it like 100 more times :tantrum: .
Cause I guarantee you that's about how many 'what if we trade Ricky' threads will be appear in the next three weeks. Either develop your argument further, or please quit carpetbombing the board with dogmatic capitalized responses!

P.S. and who said anything about a QB?
these guys were simply debating what type of pick to trade for

I agree completely and have made the same point. The only way I take a trade for Ricky is if it's a 1st rounder and more (1st and 4th or 3rd). He's got exceptional talent and appears to be back in the groove. I can see them take a conditional 2nd that would move to a 1st given some very attainable goals. But, I would not want to do that.

Frankly, unless you are talking multiple picks with a 1st rounder or a 1st round pick and another player or two.

I suspect, however, after Denver wasted their 3rd rounder last year on a RB, they will not want to give up a great deal for another RB.

I'd be very disappointed if Saban traded Ricky for one pick and not a 1st.

Ricky's talent is more then a 2nd or 3rd IMO, I'll take 29 from Denver for Ricky or nothing at all. Let him play the next two seasons for us for just over a Million dollars and how will you replace Ricky with that kind of value?? You won't, so why do it?? Saban already made it clear he values Ricky more then a 2nd or 3rd!! Atleast according to Mort.

 WOW!!! There is no forgiveness in you. I believe honestly that Ricky is a person who really made amends. You guys need to take it easy on him. Please, enough of this "he is a ticking time bomb" and "one joint away from being thrown out of the NFL". C'mon, nobody is perfect. I do not want to see him go and especially for less than a 1st.

I wonder how much Saban is willing to give up to grab his QB for the future. Do we have a chance at Leinart or Young by trading up? Probably not...............but you gotta think.....is Culter proven enough that Saban would trade up for him.....probably having to give up a 1st round pick next year? I don't think there is enough evidence that Culter is worth that much...but hey Washington traded their 1st rounder this year for Campbell and Buffalo traded 2 1st round picks for Losman and IMO and to quote Mel Kiper, "He is a better prospect than Losman and Campbell." So it's possible that we do. IMO we have alot of needs however this team will never go anywhere unless we have a franchise signal caller. It's not that he has to be Culpepper or McNabb or Manning-ish. He just needs to not make the mistakes that allow a team to lose and make the throws when they are most important, that's all a team needs to win a Super Bowl. Look at Brady, he's not that most physically gifted but gets the job done when it matters. Look at the 2 QB's in this years Super Bowl, Matt and Big Ben. What Matt has been able to do this season is make the plays when they are most needed and prevent making the errors that allow his team to lose. Ben, while he doesn't throw alot, he makes the throws that are needed when it matters. My point? Whatever Saban decides to do this year at QB, he needs to find a QB that he can say, "He can allow us as a team to go to the Super Bowl, maybe not for a few years, but at one point he will be ready enough to make that next step."

I agree. I in no way trade Ricky for anything less than a 2nd.. Denver is crazy is they think Saban is going to give up Ricky for a 2nd day pick.

Say what?
Denver will only part with a SECOND DAY PICK ( at best a 4th rounder )?
And it would be a conditional pick?
For a probowl RB?
F*** DENVER!
