I was also taught, that if you see someone being bullied and don't try and stop it, you're a coward. It was taught to me and I've taught it to my children and I can say that I've never bullied anyone and have often stood up to bullies when I was young...

Whether Martin was weak or not, where were all of the people who are supposed to stand up to a bully? If others knew and did nothing, they're worse than cowards. Martin stood alone when he didn't have to.

This has been my thinking all along and that tells us what kind of folks we have in the locker room if any of them knew about it and just sat idly by.

a) Ritchie thought he had the type of relationship with Martin (ie friendly) that he could leave provocative messages.

Or
