schefter says manning losing interest in miami

Because our Owners/and GM's have done pretty much nothing to instill hope or success.....in a very lonnnnnnnng time. It' saps the life out of you!!!
and yet all i keep hearing is if the dolphins get peyton they will be instant super bowl contenders. somebody had to build that nucleus to be that close.

Get over it Fellas...He's gone. And it's exactly why I NEVER bought into it to begin with. Our beloved front office/brass,was certain to screw this up.i sure hope Flynn was in their sights the whole time. We'll know in afew days. And for what it's worth, nobody would be more happy to be wrong than me on this.Id LOVE Peyton....I just think its fallen through already!!!

Right. He's already decided to sign with Denver 3 seconds after taking off to meet them. It's that simple

And the 2012 debbiedowner award goes to...

Do you really think manning is going to call schefter and tell him he's losing interest in anybody

Manning is currently meeting with the Broncos. Is he tweeting the media minute by minute with his every thought?
At this point its anybody's guess.
Its silly reading some of these threads denigrating Ross and Ireland before they have even had a chance to meet with Manning. Manning and his agent are controlling these FA visits, NOT the individual teams.
The fact is that Denver is nearly 40 million under the cap and the Phins are 13-15 million. Manning has stated that money won't be an issue, however, anytime an athlete says its not about the money, it is about the money. If Denver offers Manning top dollar for a franchise QB (20-23 million) there is no way the Dolphins can compete.

Thats what alot of people are ignoring some teams are way more under the cap than us and restructuring contracts is not going to make up that difference. Peyton will not be cheap I expect about 20 mill per year

with only a limited amount of time left for Manning, money isn't going to be the deciding factor.
he won't play on a weaker team because of a bigger paycheck.

Our ace-in-the hole is a multiyear incentive-laden contract, wherein your cap space is preserved over time. The phins are in the best position structurally and philosophically (they really need an HOF qb like right now) to give that to Manning imo. It'll be near 20m/year but it'll likely be a longer contract than other teams would offer and with more bells and whistles. Also remember Peyton expects it to be performance-based.

It's a gamble on Ross' part only with regards to cap-space. But, with regard to reinvigorating the franchise and putting fans in the seat, it's a goddamned no-brainer. Any ass that can do the maths knows there's a helluva lot more to gain with Manning than lose, even if he's still injured. Also do not forget, players like Manning tend to make scoring other players CHEAPER... as guys like Wayne, Carter, Faulk, etc. point out repeatedly. In the end, Ross stands to possibly save quite a bit of cap space overall by signing Peyton. Wayne and Saturday would come cheap and we can dump those who wont restructure, etc.

i.e. serious teams dont have to pay as much for serious players. And the best way for the phins to look 'serious' right now is signing Manning.

You guys feelin me on this? It's not complicated.
