Schefter says Manning would not be meeting with Phins if it wasn't serious

Uhm, it could also be that he knows his family will live in Miami part of the year and doesn't want fan resentment for not even speaking with them, personally I will not put any weight on anything the reporters say until it is announced he has signed with someone...

If you use your logic, which I agree with, the Dolphins are the team he is going to go to. He knows everything about the Dolphins, so why wouldn't he simply sign with Denver already? You may say, because he wants to take today to workout and clear his head? OK, then why setup a meeting with the Phins for tomorrow? Working out and clearing your head is one thing, it's another to setup a meeting with the Phins after you do all that.

Miami are the FAV's IMO.

Yeeeep I agree. No way he wastes his time if he wasn't seriously considering us

I hate to break this to him, but if he doesn't sign with the Phins, he's going to have to deal with that, day in and day out.

He has meet with Marino, he lives in Miami part time so what makes anyone think that at some point Ireland and Ross haven't already met with him. I like our chances but if Philbin wants Flynn I'm OK with that.

Because they weren't told that by the media, a media they say they hate?

I'm not sure a lot of ppl really take a lot of time actually thinking about these things. The proof is in the pudding on MBoards like this every day.

i was thinking pretty much that the finz or manning were not interested in each other. but, now i'm not so sure, in fact, i am almost sure now that there actually IS mutual interest.

it has nothing to do with schefter, he is no better or worse than any other nfl insider guy. but the fact that he is going to be dealing with philbin and sherman tells me this is a LEGIT visit.

there are always teams a big time player shows up to for courtesy and or for leverage. when your showing up for leverage and or courtesy, you get with the owner and gm. those are the guys who can fund the hookers and blow tour and really give ya the ritz for a night on the town!

one of the absolute biggies in this not being a good fit is the fact philbin and sherman are fixtures in the west coast offense and were brought in to install just that. sherman could have had other good gigs but chose miami because we were wanting to run the wco and his good friend philbin was here. manning doesnt do the wco and has no experiance in it. nothing in that offense he cant handle other than the fact he isnt real mobile and thats a big part of being wco qb.

sherman is going to be taking a pretty good size back seat role with manning coming in with HIS offense. and i think this meating is what manning AND sher-bin want, to see where each stands on the offensive schemes and how its deligated. i am sure manning wants to look into shermans eye and see what his take really is. will he be a reluctant participant that could become a problem or a guy who relishes working with a hall of famer and just considers the change in scheme a minor adjustment.

mike sherman is the big key in this meeting. how is he going to handle manning be a defacto o/c, how will sherman handle it when the players are coming to peyton for advice and side stepping him? in the offensive meetings, how will sherman handle it when he says something or recomends something and the players turn and look at peyton for approval?

will he become ignored on the practice field? sherman is a new coach for the finz and respect and trust is a BIG factor, the players have to believe in you and trust your opinions and abilities. this could all have a dominoe effect with the finz locker room and staff should things get tense with sherman and coach manning!

i wouldnt have said this yesterday, but i feel miami IS the place he hopes to be and he wants to see it in the COACHES eyes that they are believers and not sheep to the slaughter, forced to conform to ross's starat all costs agenda.

if this was a courtesy meeting, a keep the crowd from torching our house visit, he would be meeting with ross to get all the steak and lobster he and his wife can pile down. this shows that it is a FOOTBALL visit and puts miami in the thick of it.

yeah, he met with the cards coach, but, they are old buddies, theres no way he goes to az and doesnt meet with his pal. tennessee is an interesting dark horse in this. i thought the texans were going to be that pop up at the end, steal the show team, but it just may be the titans! peyton has already lived there and i think his wife is from tennessee. he played college ball there. he is worshipped on good 'ol rocky top! and he may want to end where it all started for him. and to give the state a championship that he couldnt deliver when he played with the vols.

it is a GREAT state to raise kids and i know thats important. all this talk of az being such a great place for his kids is HOOEY!! i would not want my kids in school here. the hispanic gang problem is BIG and the caucasion and black kids, american kids are being bullied, BIG TIME!! lots of crime here because of the open border mess and the neutering of our fine sheriff joe arpaio in carying out the PRODUCTIVE WORK he has in his career. and its getting worse.

theres good and bad in every city but tennesse is a MUCH better state for raising kids and less crime.

peyton didnt play for miami, he played for the colts. the manning family didnt HAVE to live in south florida, they WANTED to! and that translates into mrs manning loves living in south florida. GOOD FOR US in the fact that they know he doesnt have much time left. he may not make it a full season so why pick up and leave your home, the place you CHOSE to live with the risk you may turn around and have to move again within a year or two? i am thinking they would rather not!

i think mrs manning and probably mr manning want this to work out in miami. plus, peyton was a HUGE marino and dolphins fan and everyone would have loved to play for the favorite team of their youth. he has that chance!

if boss ross was wanting him to stop by just so it looked to the fans like he tried everything and peyton went else where, HE would be meeting with peyton and doing the hooker and blow night, not meeting with the 2 brand new lowely coaches.

i am saying now its between miami and the titans with emphasis on THE DOLPHINS!!

we'll see if sher-bin can sell it.

brevity is the soul of wit-

so the dolphins are getting back the steam we lost a few days ago....LOL

Schefter just said that Manning would not be meeting with the Phins if we was not seriously considering signing with them, he said titans a different situation because muncheck and GM are not on board with signing Manning
so he met with the broncos and Cards just for the hell of it?

Ozzy rules!!

I should have never changed my major from journalism to CS. It seems easy:

Manning meets with Denver.
Media, Denver is the front runner to land Manning.

Manning meets with Zona.
Media, Denver and Zona are the front runners to land Manning.

Manning sets up meeting with fins.
Media, he wouldn't be meeting with Miami if he was't serious.

There that sums up the last 3 days, more to come.

sheesh what happened to Schefter? Up until this offseason he was the absolute best when it came to breaking news and reporting whats going on. Now his stories change by the hour

ESPN happened to him...

Manning is smart enough to cover his bases and not unnecessarily alienate rich and influential people. It makes sense to take some time and at least show some interest out of courtesy.
