IMHO, this is the guy that will impact our running game more than any other FA we picked up. This will be our "6th" O-lineman.

Sledge will be able to handle the LB or the free DL at the LOS allowing us to be more productive on the 3 yard pickups making them 5 yards.

He will also be open in the flat, has great hands, doesnt fumble.

This guy is a great pick for us.

Only time will tell with Schlesinger. If Cam wants a San Diego type Offense then Schlesinger has to be the next Neal. Schlesinger is about 6lbs under Neals weight and is 1 inch taller so theres not much difference. Schlesinger is getting older same as Neal so i guess u cant knock it just yet when Neal is still doing it. Ronnie needs a break out season so lets hope our new FB can get him some lanes.

If Ronnie can get to the LOS, he's good for 5 yards. If he can get to the LBs, haha, I'd be pleased because he'd get another 5 yards running over the tackler and falling forward.

another plus is getting the db's involved with the tackles. Ronnie Brown hurts them and it wouldn't take to much of a ding to make Ginn mighty scary. I have been a proponent of running Ronnie at db's from the begining, now with Schleshammer leadin' the way, we will get to enjoy watching both of them blow people up.

Im a Brown fan but maybe Booker might be better getting to the outside which may release Ginn and bring the DB's up? just a thought.

I wasn't necessarily talking about "outside". Sledge hits the backer, Ronnie's on a db up the gut. LoBook is not any bigger than the guy tackling him and I don't know enough about him to know how "he" addresses a tackler. We've seen what RB does.. they are tackling him so low now, he can hurdle them. I'm not speaking of "releasing" I'm talking about smashmouth, snot knocker football. Running AT someone.

Remember when everybody thought Fred Beasley was our answer at fullback?

Lets hope Sledge doesn't end up on the chopping block...he shouldn't.

Booker wasnt used enough by FSU going up the middle between the Guards and Tackles. What the general population including media does know is that this kid can get to the outside and catch. Brown for me can implode on LB's and DB's for fun. i luv Ronnie. If Cam can utilize Booker to his strengths then we have a serious threat both ways. Brown can go outside no problem, just take a look at his run against Bills and Chiefs (both for TD,s) if u want proof.Booker is unknown to the NFL which is always a good thing when it comes to matchups.

I agree with this very much Marty. I think, with Sledge, the mentallity has to be to soften the db's up with Ronnie (We all know he can flat out run over Safeties and smaller Lb's) then counter with Lobook once the Db's get their helmets back on straight.
The think Cam had in San Diego was LT, whom to some extent is a bit of both. He can knock people over (Not like Ronnie, but can still run hard) and can flat out run and outjuke Db's... We don't have the luxery of LT, so we will have to do by committee..

Sorry, the crust of this rant is that Yes, Shlesinger can be a serious assett by getting the running going early and often:D

I'm with cnc. I watched Booker alot, and he isn't going to blow up many people on this level. Booker was gotten for his screens and hitting the corners not hitting people in holes. We pound Ronnie with Schlesinger for 3 quarters and then set up Bookers speed around the outside in the 4th for some homerun hits against a punished D. Can't wait.

Ronnie is definitely one of those backs who's good at those 10-20 yard runs. He just needs a crease. He runs kind of low with a good forward lean so he has plenty of leverage and momentum ... like a bowling ball or something. If you ever played DB in high school football, Ronnie is the kind of tailback you don't want to see flying through the hole with a lot of speed.

This year, I want Ronnie to show everyone that he can get those tough 10 yards and also have that good "vision" to make a quick cut and burst upfield at top speed. I want to see more LaDainian style quickness, elusiveness and burst this year ... a little more cheetah as well as his usual charging bull style of running. The guys that can do both well are fun to watch .... guys like Bo Jackson. His combination of power and speed was unbelievable. I'm hoping Ronnie comes back from Athlete's Performance in Arizona and he blows his own mind in training camp with his improved agility, endurance, speed and all that.

I believe that Trent Green and Chris Liwienski were also very good FA pickups that will end up helping our running game.

I think this has been a very successful offseason.

Ronnie Brown running at db's? Like the time he trucked Champ Bailey and put him out of most of the game with a partially separated shoulder? 'Ol Gus looked like a pro-bowler the rest of the game with Champ out.

GG

when you watch that in slo mo it is obvious Ronnie is driving him in too. It was at that point all the db's started getting lower and lower. They knew from the film room it was career threatening to hit him high.
