I do like the acquisition of Cory Schlesinger. And I think he'll give us a couple years of good play. But realistically all we're going to get out of him is a couple years. That's why I'm still holding out hope that we look to the draft this year for a FB. That FB would have time to learn the system and take notes from one of the better FBs in the business right now.

I posted this on the general Dolphins forum but also wanted to see what people here though about LeRon McClain. Being a student at the University of Alabama I've seen him play for the past 4 years.

Those are his college stats. Obviously he was used more as a blocking back than an offensive weapon but when he got the chance he showed he has good receiving skills and he is one hell of a nasty lead blocker. He may not be the most attractive option in the draft, and I might be a bit of a homer, but I think he could be gotten late for cheap and could make an impact for the Dolphins for years to come.

He had a bad Senior Bowl but the entire South did. But I also read some people who said that he was more impressive than Ken Darby during the week of practice. And despite Darby's lackluster Senior season he's a definite gamer.

that would be my first choice question is when do you take him in this draft could go anywhere from late 3rd to 5th is my guess also like anderson from tennessee another SEC monster fullback

I wouldn't mind McClain at all. He's a monster of a lead blocker and could learn a few things from Sledge.

I also think Corey Anderson of Tennessee is another FB that's worth taking a look at. Corey (6'2" 247) is just as big as McClain but he's faster (4.70 40) and a much better receiver.

I've never been a HUGE fan of drafting blocking FBs anywhere higher than round 5, only b/c they are not as important as any other position and they can be had as free agents or late round picks. There are plenty of adequate FBs out there. Now hybrid fullbacks like Alstott, Brian Leonard and such, that's another story.

r u serious? Schlesinger, a 35 year old...ISNT our long term solution??? gosh darn i thought he was gonna be our franchise FB:boohoo:

listen guy FB is not our concern right now, WR, QB, oline CB and TE is
So what if FB is not a concern right now, that does not mean we cannot talk about that position.

Besides, would it hurt anything to have someone compete with or even be a backup to Schlesinger during training camp?

i think either mclain or anderson with one of our sixths is gonna happen as long as that trade gos thru. I think cam will grab one and let him get to the nfl workout for 2 yrs behind sclesinger and learn from one of the good blockin fbs in the league

LOL, who said Sledge would be???

Cory is only a quick fix, but its not like cutting him would kill us. Besides FB is one position I am not worried about

Sounds like a Wannstedt comment to me. That position isn't an immediate concern at the moment so lets ignore it till it blows up in our face.
