I think that 1) insulted us and made us play harder because of it, and 2) took the aggressive edge off his own team by giving them the message that we were such bad competition that they could take unusual risks against us and still win.
Contrast that with Saban's going for 1 instead of 2 after our first TD. I'm always a big fan of that. Why, when you're ahead on the scoreboard, would you send the message to your team that you think the other team will score again? That's what going for 2 when you're ahead does 90% of the time IMO.
Saban called the game like he wanted to win it. Schottenheimer called it like he was taking a walk in the park.
