Schulters and Bell should be starting safeties

I'd like to see Schulters at FS, and have Bell and Jones platoon at strong safety.

Saban never even knew that Schulters would be available when he signed Tebuckey did he?

come on guys start paying attention to nick in his press conferences. he's already said that basically schulters doesn't have the speed he is looking for from the FS postition in our defense, and thats probably why he and the other coaches keep commenting on how they like bell's speed and athleticism. also, when lance first appeared on the depth chart it was at FS. he is now listed at SS behind jones. just let saban do his thing!
 
Why the negativity on Tebucky? He had a good game against Pitt. That one fumble by Verron Haynes in the 2nd quarter was caused by a tomahawk from Tebucky, and a couple of times Tebucky successfully ran down the ultra-fast Willie Parker on really long runs saving touchdowns.

We need Tebucky's range. Yeremiah has good range too. I like the duo of Yeremiah and Tebucky for now, until Schulters REALLY settles into this defense and his talent starts shining through.

I still don't understand all the negativity around Tebucky. He did well against Pitt.
 
I honestly am very optimistic and looking forward to seeing the duo of Lance Schulters and TeBucky Jones start. I think that Yeremiah Bell has been impressive thus far in preseason but what concerns me the most is if he can be consistent and if he can stay HEALTHY. Two major concerns about Bell that I question if he is going to be the starter. I haven't heard that much news lately on Schulters lately, but from what I have heard he is doing a much better job learning Saban's complicated defensive scheme which is great news to hear. I'm really hoping and expecting Lance to be our starting FS and as for our starting SS, I honestly just want whomever performs better to be our starter whether that is Jones or Bell. Personally I'm liking if TeBucky is our starter because he has a lot more experience and I feel he is a solid tackler and just needs to improve greatly on his pass coverage and catching ability.
 
The safety position is very competitive. One of the things you guys have to worry about a lot is the depth of your team outside the starting positions. This is not a position that we hae to worry about this because we have 2 veterans at safety and a young bell who can easily replace both players.
 
By the way I just checked up on TeBucky Jones contract for anyone who is interested.

Salary: $665,000

Other Bonuses: $500,000
Cap Hit: $1,500,000
2005 Dead Cap Prior 6/1: $670,000
2005 Dead Cap After 6/1: $835,000

Pretty big cap hit, I think that would make it safe to say TeBucky isn't going anywhere.
 
Schulters and Jones should start and if the DB's are not getting it done which is very possible during the season u give Bell a shot at starting.
 
it was meant to be Schulters and Jones.. but Bell's play will force him onto the field. Hopefully he can stay healthy.
