Schulters Close To Signing One Year Deal

I believe center can wait for one reason only, you have two guys next to the center that can create a wall or some type of technique to hold on the opposing d.. cut block, double team, the guard moves down and protects , or soemthing(im not a specialist).. anyways as a fs or safety, you can almot always be on your own. u cover one side of the field, and ocne u **** up there is no one helping you..

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! !
Dude this has been the best night of my life

I sure hope that's not just because your team signed a guy.

Man, only a 1 year deal?

That's how we'll get him so cheap. Gives him a year to show the NFL what he's still got. Also gets us out of a long contract if he has nothing left. Remember he missed most of last season due to an injury. But if he lights it up, we may or may not be able to afford him next season.

I was hoping Law would do the same as Lance.

If Law's smart he would do the same. If he goes to Detroit, he's got to compete with other good CBs. With the Jets, maybe not so much, but with Miami he'd be nearly a lock to start and a chance to prove himself in a familiar defensive scheme. Nice to have Schulters shore up a cruddy safety depth chart though. If we get Law or another veteran CB, it'd make our secondary a whole lot better.

GREAT NEWS!! Schulters will be a beast with his huge frame at FS. A smart veteran too.. just a Great signing.

Good News. I won't celebrate until it's official, but, when it happens, this will certainly improve our defense from where it currently is. I'm getting really excited about where this team could go. If we can sure up the Center position and have one of the two QB's come on and just play better than average, we could easily win 9 to 10 games this year..

I'm so siked about Randy getting to get throught his year without legal stuff, if they will allow a continuance it will be granted and requested. I can't believe how well this offseason is going! We thought we were SOL with our cap situation. It SUCKS to have lost Surtain, but its amazing what Saban has done with that cap space.

For those of you who think that Saban is "untested" and may not do well in the NFL -- you are WRONG. I don't care who he is coaching, this man is a LEADER and a success. It isn't a "maybe he will do well, maybe he will flop thing." This man doesn't accept failure. It just won't happen.

I just nabbed Ronnie and Randy in my Fantasy football team. In a 12 Team league, I've also got : Mike Vick/Jake Plummer - Clinton Portis/Ronnie Brown/Larry Johnson (I think Priest will get hurt again) - Chris Chambers/Andre Davis/Muhsin Muhammed (hope he meshes with Grossman)/Antonio Bryant, Randy McMichael/Weaver?(Pats starting TE, don't remember), and Dolphins D with Denver D to backup. I'm totally a homer, and I think Vick will have a breakout year for some reason.

i really hope we get schulters signed...i have no confidence in tillman...plus we have no depth at safety...

no way ill take a good Saftey over a center
i def think we can work with the o-line to get them half decent

Maybe Smith can do something at Center, but McKinney has had a couple of years to develop and he's still getting his a$$ handed to him by rookies. Granted, he had a lousey teacher in Wise, but still, an NFL veteran should be able to outplay a kid who is right out of college. (and a 7th round pick at that)

He might be here for the league minimum, boys

Dolphins | May Land Schulters for Minimum Salary

Updating previous reports, ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Miami Dolphins may land free agent S Lance Schulters (Titans) with a contract worth close to the minimum salary. Schulters had been hoping for a bigger deal and was willing to wait until the start of training camps to get the right deal.

Wow, if true that still leaves cap room to compete for Law (at a reasonable price of course) or to sign a vet like Buckley for mimimum, so the Dolphins have some depth in case of injury.

There may be some hard choices next year if most of the guys with one year contracts have good seasons (as I think most will as they know it means a payday for them). Still, until Saban can add more players through another draft, and some more cheap FA players, I think he has done about as much as possible to field a winning team.

On the other hand, if some of these guys on one year contracts crash and burn? The team has not lost cap space by having to eat a signing bonus from a long-term contract.
