FS Lance Schulters, Miami: The eight-year veteran was released by Tennessee this spring after a foot injury limited him to only three appearances in 2004. The market was much slower for Schulters than anticipated but those safety-needy franchises that passed on him probably wish they had made more of an effort to sign him. Schulters, 30, has 63 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions and two passes defensed, and has been a stabilizing force in the Dolphins' secondary.
I pray that we re-sign him in the offseason.

"a stabalizing force in the Dolphins' secondary"

More like the only force in the Dolphins' secondary.

Kind of werid seeing that one of our players getting props from ESPN. Many people thought that Schulters was done here before it even started because it took him so long to learn the defense and the little things in it. But he has been a key player to this defense and I do hope that we can re-sign him to a two year deal.

Sad part is he's really only played about average. Saban gives this secondary plenty of chances to make plays. Some take advantage, but most of our guys have not. I can't wait to see what it all looks like when he can start bringing in some light out safety prospects.

I like him alot i think he is a very good player im sure we will give him a 3 year deal probably

I hope we draft a sick CB

then i think with poole back, daniels and Lance we should be good with the DB's

He's been a great pick up. Pretty much single-handedly won the Carolina game for us. Can't imagine Nick will let him get away, especially with our weak secondary. Travis Daniels starting as a 4th round pick is a nice surprise, too. Not a superstar, but serviceable. We all knew we'd miss Surtain, but you gotta give Nick props for at least setting us up for the future. Daniels, Poole, and Schulters could be 3/4 of a pretty decent starting secondary. Need another safety, a slot cb and depth, depth, depth, but the future's not as bleak as it seems.

Imagine another year in this system. He would be making those plays that were left on the field this season.

I don't know about you, but I'm thrilled with the way Daniels and Bell have shown they can play. We do have depth in the secondary and they are young too.We need Saftey help and a veteran corner because Sam is just slowing down too much.

yeah i loved the Schutlers pick up, he's not young anymore. But he's a solid player and veteran presence to help out with our young secondary for years to come....much more of a model than Sam Madison who could only help teach younger players how to be burned, hold, or cheap shot.

I think we should resign madison and move him to FS like the bills did with troy vincent

then take lance and shift him to SS which is a psoition he played in tennessee
then pool and daniels at corner

i have to disagree, i believe Schulters has played up to par....it's kind of hard to play at a pro-bowl level when you have to try and cover the whole field all by yourself

I believe he has played above par

In oakland he made picks on back to back oakland possesions near the end of the game, although one was called back on a penalty

in carolina he saved the game with carolina driving he made the game saving pick

more like its hard to look like a pro bowler when your trying to hide all reggie howards mistakes when he's in the game lol

He's been alright, but like I wouldn't put his play above Brock Marion's at any point in his career in Miami, and Brock was never really a stellar safety just a pretty good one. We bought a pretty solid safety and he's playing solid, but we didn't discover some safety of the future or anything. The Dolphins should still be looking to draft at the position or through free agency to find a true impact guy.
